Would you move to an American-import friendly place, such as Panama City. There you could establish a bank account, use Pinnacle as well as not have to worry about any of the legal matters that people in the United States do these days.

I think it would be a good idea, to live there for half of the year and the other half in the states. That way you could pick what part of the year you want to live there (say, baseball season or football season) and live there and bet in safety.

Home and condo prices are on par with what they would cost in some U.S. areas, perhaps a lot less in some cases. The cost of living in a place like Panama City or the surrounding area is also quite a bit less than it would be somewhere in the United States.

I'm not saying I am going to do this, but would certainly like to hear the opinion of others on this topic. What would be some pros and cons that I have not looked at?

cons-what would you do for a yearly income or a job? Either the 6 months you are there or the 6 months you are not?

This is a topical subject over the last year with Punters whining about this, moaning about that etc but the truth is, it all depends on your position in the betting chain. Basically 98% of punters are losers and 90% of those dont care because its a viewed as an enjoyable, affordable pastime, the others are just desperate Gamblers. Of the 2% that do win, they are made up of most that will lose some sort of edge but carry on regardless leaving a small minority that the legislation has really impacted as they were winning serious money.

Because they were winning serious money, they will find ways to perpetuate this. Pro's will always put themselves out to get that extra edge, thats what makes them Pro's. I remember one who asked a geezer how he picked so many horse winners and he said he was a Cab Driver on the night shift and had plenty of time to study and talk to other drivers. Without delay the Pro got himself a job as the unpaid controller on the night shift, organised drivers opinions, sifted through the various babblings and come up with reasonable propositions which he used to his financial gain. Along with putting on the lazy drivers bets at better odds found himself a goldmine which after 3 months he decided to buy and install what was basically a front for a betting shop.

It wouldn't have to be just to bet on sports, although if someone was betting for a living, and making some good money from it, then it could just be about betting. But it could also be for other reasons, such as a place to vacation for half of the year, have nice weather, etc. There are many possibilities as to why someone would want to live outside the United States, trust me. It's like people from the northern states moving to the southern states for the winter for the weather, except there are a lot more possibilities and scnearios that could take a person there besides the weather.

Good post, although I believe that a greater percentage of sports bettors are winning serious money, maybe around 5-8% or possibly even more.

On an unrelated topic, it says your location is Florida, but I thought you lived somewhere in Europe. Am I mistaking you for another poster?

Intrinzik,
I am the same person, I felt by giving my location as Florida Posters would give me more credence on American Sports than if I said Emerald Isle.

And I'm sorry but 5-8% of Punters dont win serious money, certainly not on this Forum.

I am in my mid-20's but if I were to get really serious about sports betting, etc I figure I could pull it off. That would be if the situation in the U.S. continues to worsen. If it were to stay the same, I wouldn't feel the need to move somewhere just to bet sports, although I am going to buy a vacation home somewhere in the world within the next 5-10 years and live there ~3 months out of the year.

I already travel all over the world, so it would be nothing new.

Thanks for the explanation, it all makes since now.

I think it depends on what you mean by serious money? :think2:

Pinnacle won't be open forever.

It wouldn't have to be Pinnacle, it could be any online sportsbook. The point is that you would not have the government and/or banks trying to stop you from depositing your winnings in your bank account, recieveing checks, etc etc etc.

It would eliminate much of the hassle that online bettors in the U.S. have to deal with on a daily basis.
