#1 I pitched in MLB for over 10 years, started in the early 1970's, #2 I was a regular starter for almost my entire career....

#3 I pitched 3 scoreless innings in my only ALL Star game .

#4 I had ONE phenomenal season, winning nearly 1/4 of my career wins in that one season.

#5 After my 'career season' my career was pretty much over, I retired the follwing season from arm trouble.

Who art thou? :think2:

3 scoreless innings in one all-star game is rare...especially now....very few ever go past 2 innings.

For some reason, when I think of Steve Stone, he played for Orioles for just 1 year, my birth year, 1975? Would I be so way off the point? (now bothering to google... after the fact)

I suck when it comes to "old Orioles history". Steve Stone pitching for Orioles in 1979-1981, and I was thinking of the 1980 year instead (my mind was thinking division of 5, so thought 1975...) oh wait, now I'm thinking Don Baylor for 1975 (but that's his last year as an Oriole). Never mind, it's bed time for me.

I don't Cal and I don't google ...anyway Cal, Stone dominated that yr, the Orioles were great too, as they were from 79-83..they won 100 games I believe and still did not make the playoffs, NY won 101-102 gms if I remember corectly, keeping us out! No wildcard....

That was a tremendous season, we had a 5 gamer with NY in Baltimore that drew an unheard 250K people , back then that was a huge deal....the Orioles trailed most of that season but chased NY down and damn near overtook them...one of my favorite seasons !

I remember reading several Orioles guides every time I went to Memorial Stadium for a game so I remember some weird numbers and/or facts. I certainly remember that line about a 5-game series with 250K attendance, definitely unheard of!

I also recalled that Milwaukee took the division in '82 pretty close, but didn't realize Orioles was just 1 game behind (just the same as the strike-shortened season in 1981). You are right about NYY, they won 103 games in 1980 with Orioles getting 100 without any wildcard, that sucked back then.

My dad told me he did go to the WS in 1979 against Pittsburgh (he told me this pretty recently when I thought he had just gone to some games in his past, but not any big games like that). He had gotten free/cheap tickets from co-worker and went there in his nice work clothes, LOL.

Looking through some of the history pages online now, I see I forgot so much, haha. I can't believe you are only 6 years older than I am, J-Man. ;-)

Nite, man.
