Despite finishing as the 4th-leading rusher in NFL history, the guy always seemed to fly under the radar...

Always came across as a class act with no ego, who just went out and did his job week in and week out better than just about anyone.

When you think of best RB's of all-time, nobody ever brings up Curtis Martin. The stats don't lie though, he is one of the best at his positions of all time. HOFer for sure.

Big fan of Martin, as you pointed out skins he was classy and blue-collar, went to work everyday and did his job without expecting things in return.

Exactly what I was going to say.
Quietly one of the best RB's in the league. Never bitched about anything that I heard of.

Patriots don't make many personell mistakes but letting him go was a big one.

How? They have 3 rings, so I would love your explanation on this... Curtis Martin one of the best rb's I have seen play. I would put him behind only Barry Sanders from rb's I have seen. Yes I have Martin ahead of Emmitt. I may be forgetting someone but Martin like everyone else is saying was a tough runner who gave it 100% every play

He had the same running style as Smith, without the Dallas line to block for him. Martin beat the odds when the Pats let him go by succeeding in New York.

If Barry Sanders got to run behind the OLs that Emmitt did, he would've put the rushing record so far out of reach that it'd never, ever be broken. It'd be like Dimaggio's 56-game hitting streak, or Cy Young's 511 wins.

Even behind some porous OLs he still would've absolutely obliterated the record.

Sanders only fault was he tried to make a 80-yard run every time. Can't hit a HR every time. The holes may be there for a split second. Emmitt and CMart were great at reading them.

Amen to that. How about if Barry had the Terrell Davis Denver O-line? Damn...

Martin has no cartilage left in his knees. Guy basically has full blown arthritis and still tried to comeback last year. Pain had to be unbearable.
