I don't think it is, but may be wrong. But the wording gets confusing when articles say transported across state lines for fighting.

I think Louisiana just made it illegal recently, and they were the last state to do so.

On ESPN Radio yesterday they said it was a felony in 49 states. They didn't mention whether it was legal in the 50th state or just a felony. They also didn't mention the 50th state. My guess would be Alaska.

So what difference does it make (transported across state lines) if the dog fighting took place in Va.?

Transporting across state is a federal offense, separate from the state dogfighting statutes.

crossing state lines makes it a federal matter as opposed to a state matter.

E.g, if you have a brick of weed in your car and cross state lines, it now is a federal offense as opposed to simply a state matter.

Moral of that seems to be : grow your own weed and do not take it out of state.:missingte

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..
