Pads trade Linebrink to Brew Crew for 3 minor leaguers

Last yr they could have had Wilson Betemit for Linebrink. Couldn't even pluck an MLB bat for Linebrink? Boy has his stock fallen. Only bright side is Linebrink is a walk-away free agent.

The Barrett trade has worked out fine. We traded a catcher that already got traded by the Cubs because he stunk and is a minor league ballplayer. We gave up nothing to get Barrett

How do you figure? Neither Bowen or Kendall have done shit. And they started winning before Barrett left. Ask the other 29 GMs in the league who they would rather have Barrett or Kendall and it might be unanimous in Barrett's favor. Don't get me wrong, I don't love Barrett. But the Padres stole him, and the cubs could still use him. Kendall sucks. And don't give me "Hill is the answer". Come the stretch drive, the vet will be in there

Wilson Betemit isn't anything to covet, trust me ... just because they got 3 minor leaguers doesn't mean they got fleeced, apparently the A-ball guy is a stud. I wouldn't be surprised if this trade comes back to make the Brewers look like geniuses.

Barrett is a butcher behind the plate. I would rather have my 12 year old brother catching that Barrett, he calls a terrible game also

Kevin Towers has made a habit of getting bullpen guys who nobody's heard of before they turn out to be studs (Linebrink, Otsuka, Bell, Meredith) to name a few

I wouldn't say no one has heard of Linebrink...sure he plays on the west coast but his name is always coming up in the offseason and around the deadline as a guy team's covet for relief help. Hardly like Otsuka.

Nobody had heard of Linebrink when the Padres got him. That was my point.

Most MLB writers agree that this was a steal for the Padres and the Brewers really made a bad snap decision. They traded away at least one of their top pitching prospects who is expected to be a front of the rotation guy for a RP in Linebrink who has been just about as good as league average this year, in a pitcher's park.

Yes, they traded Linebrink for 3 minor leaguers, but one of those minor leaguers is probably a better RP option than Linebrink right now. Highway robbery by the Padres, and a panic move by the Brewers...this will cost the Brewers in 2-3 years.
