2-1 for +2.19 (Record is since the ASB since I took a break)

1.00 to win 1.70 Pittsburgh Pirates (+170)
Paul Maholm has been a much better pitcher as of late then he was early in the season. His record is very misleading, he has one of the fewest run support averages in the league and his ERA has been steadily coming down. More important than that is his success versus the Mets, he is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA against them. The Mets have had little success against him with only Paul Lo Duca and Jose Reyes batting .444 and .400 against him. Besides that their success is very minimal. On the other hand Oliver Perez (ex Pirate) has been awful against his former team. He's 0-1 in 2 starts with a 9.00 ERA. Even though this wasn't recently.. he seems to have a tough time pitching against the Pirates. I also think this price is wack.. the Mets should be -250+ with Perez on the mound at home against a team who is 1-10 since the ASB.

3.00 to win 2.00 Philadelphia Phillies (-150)
I will take Adam Eaton any day over this minor leaguer. Yes, John Lannan has good stats in the minor league.. this previous year he is 6-0 in 8 starts with a 2.13 ERA. That is just the minors though.. you do not take a young player like this and throw him to the Phillies at home. Eaton hasn't been great by any means lately, but in his last start he did hold the Padres at home to only 2 runs through 6 innings and that gave the Phillies a chance to win. The best hitter for the Nationals by far is Dmitri Young, and he has great stats against Eaton.. he is 2-11 batting .182, both being just singles. Anyways.. this isn't really about Adam Eaton.. its about John Lannan and can he handle his major league appearance.. and I don't think he can, not against the Phillies at home.

Be back with more later. Good Luck to everyone today!

Might as well toss out the record before the all star break since that doesn't matter now.

I had a winning record before the all star break as well. I was actually 16-9 and I am 4-1 in that Invitational Best Bet thread. I never said it didn't matter either, just said I took a break so it's not fair for me to throw out a winning record that was well over a month old. I can't say I won 16 out of my last 25 for positive units when I haven't posted a wager in a month. And I'm not being arrogant just don't like when little bitches come into peoples threads and start shit.

thanks for the write ups, nice to see somebody taking the time to actually write and give some reason for their picks.concerning the remarks by a153 above about the record,I think the only way for people to truly post records and it really to matter is to post in the tracker forum

2.60 to win 2.00 Tampa Bay @ Baltimore o10.0 (-130)
I'm basing this strictly on the pitching match ups and not how the bats have been for either team. These 2 teams combines had 10 runs in their last 2 games and even more shocking is that Tampa only has 1 run in their last 2 games. Pathetic right. But what better way to get their bats alive than facing a struggling pitcher, Steve Trachsel. He is 5-7 with a 5.05 ERA on the season and it has been climbing rapidly lately. In his last 3 starts he is 0-2 with an 11.45 ERA. What's worse than that is his WHIP.. that is at 2.91.. that is saying that he practically puts 3 base runners on base each inning. Now for Tampa's pitching.. Edwin Jackson is nothing impressive either. He's got a 6.65 ERA on the season with an impressive 2-9 record. Even his last 3 aren't much better, with a 5.52 ERA. He only has 1 win in his last 3 and that is because he got 14 runs of support against the Yankees. This ball game will fly over the total. No doubt in my mind.
