Best Batters Eye?

Growing up in the 80's and 90's in the northeast I was astounded at how sharp Boggs and Henderson where when it came to identifying pitches....raising it to an art form in my mind. Bonds is amazing as well, perhaps even better than those guys.

Which players throughout your baseball watching career have impressed you the most in this regard?

Wade Boggs was the best.
His theory was wait and weight.

Keep the weight on the back foot, and wait for the pitch to come to you.

I thought what was most amazing about Boggs was that he could foul off pitch after pitch until he got the one he wanted. He was/is also one sick individual.

Rod Carew but he didn't get a lot of walks per sey.

Joe Morgan was as good as anyone at taking the BB.

Ken Singleton had a great eye , if he didn't swing it was a ball....Singy was probably the best eye of his era.

Of course Wade Boggs would be real high on the list.

Rickey Henderson was also great, real tough to pitch to with the crouch and great eye, 2,190 BB , how many of them turned into 'doubles' ?

Frank Thomas was a lot like Singleton if he didn't swing it was a ball usually.

Mike Hargrove was a very disciplined batter.

A of course one Barry Bonds, the all time walk man, was walking long before we knew what Balco was.

Disciplined? We all know what his nickname was (for the very young, it was "The Human Rain Delay"). If he were a pro golfer, he'd be put on the clock every round he played.

I saw a piece on Edgar Martinez once, I almost had him on my list.... Anyway it was very interesting , Edgar did all these eye exercises, literally working out his eyes like part of his fitness regimen, I've never heard of anyone else doing it, i'm sure some do...it seemed to really work for Edgar who could flat out hit with the best of them.
