- 6 major sports teams (Nats, Wiz, Skins, O’s, Ravens, Caps) with decent arenas to watch them in. With the new stadium for the Nats in ’08, the oldest stadium will be 10 years old (Verizon Center) not counting RFK for the United. Even if you don’t like the local teams, (which I don’t) you can still watch your favorite team visit in every sport.
- Decent fan support for out of town teams. Again there are decent bars for out of town NFL teams in the area and you can pretty much find someone that likes your favorite team. Let your intentions be known you like another team than who’s not local in Philly or Texas and you can get your tires slashed or ostracized quickly.
- Redskin fans. Many of you guys know I’m a Jints fan and no I haven’t changed my allegiance of who I like in the NFL but if you have lived here near the nations capital they are straight comedy. I have to admit these guys love their teams to the death (see extremeskins.com). The hilarity is multiplied by 2 when their team tanks by the end of November but still looks forward to the ‘Boys game the end of the year.

- Wack / Non existent natural rivalries. Come on now, the nations capital cant have a natural rivalry? No USC/UCLA, no Sox/Yanks, no Philly/New York, no Purdue / IU. Hell, I’ll take a New Mexico / New Mexico State. Shoot, how hard is it to schedule a GU / Maryland bball home at home each year?? The best natural rivalry we have is Maryland / WVU football??
Please.
- Crappy coverage of local teams. Shoot if the teams name aren't the Redskins or the Ravens, that team don’t exist. One of the more exciting NHL players in the league plays here in A. Ovechkin and you probably couldn’t get 5 people walking in NW to pick his face out of a lineup.
When I get froggy, I’ll add more.
