<DL class=byline>By DAVE FAIRBANK | Daily Press <DD>4:04 PM EDT, July 26, 2007 </DD><DD> </DD><DD>NEWPORT NEWS - Friends and community leaders plan to hold a "Community Hug for Michael Vick" on Friday at 6 p.m., in front of the Moton House, at 21st Street and Jefferson Ave., in Newport News, the Rev. Marcellus Harris said.
"We want to emphasize his right to due process and that the rush to impugn him is premature," Harris said. "We want to let him know that the community is behind his right to due process."
Vick, a Newport News native who graduated from Warwick High, was arraigned Thursday in U.S. District Court in Richmond on allegations that he participated in an illegal dogfighting operation, based out of property he formerly owned in Surry County.

<!-- END rail -->Harris said that several community leaders and longtime friends of Vick will attend and are expected to speak on his behalf. It isn't known if Vick himself will attend.
"We are not unmindful of the charges against him," Harris said, "but he deserves, like everybody in America, the right to have the facts heard before judgment is passed."
