I think most people (including me) believes their father was a better man...

....only exceptions I think will be those whose father ran out on them or cheated on their mother.....

my dad set the example that I will live up to for my kids. That is how a heritage is established even if you had a bad dad you can CHOOSE to create a new standard.

good question.

My dad was born in 1919,WW2 vet, grew up during depression, college graduate.

He was an accountant for the electric company, married my mother around 1953 or so. First son born 1956, then me in 1963.

The way I figure it, marriage went bad around 1970, Dad took two night jobs as janitor at a restaurant and cemetary in addition to real job, more to escape marriage than for the money, then his local bar to hang at,his way of dealing with being married,IMO !

He was always there for me,though !

My Father. Not even close. He's 87 and I'm taking him in tomorrow for cataract surgery. He is my best friend.

My father was a good man, but I believe I have had a better outlook on life and I am a better family man...He was born in Ireland and my mother spoke fluent Spanish and when I was young, he did not permit Spanish in the house...being that my last 20 odd years were spent in Spanish speaking countries, I regret not learning more Espanol...but my Dad was hardworking and honest...

My father was a better man than me.

The most moral man I ever met, no joke.

Brilliant too, 6 college degrees including Ph.D. in
Electrical Engineering.

Retired from IBM, and then went to Seminary. He's still plugging
away, teaching at local Universities.

Waitin, watchin the clock, its four oclock, its got to stop
Tell him, take no more, she practices her speech
As he opens the door, she rolls over...
Pretends to sleep as he looks her over
She lies and says shes in love with him, cant find a better man...
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, cant find a better man...
Cant find a better man (2x)
Ohh...

Talkin to herself, theres no one else who needs to know...
She tells herself, oh...
Memories back when she was bold and strong
And waiting for the world to come along...
Swears she knew it, now she swears hes gone
She lies and says shes in love with him, cant find a better man...
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, cant find a better man...
She lies and says she still loves him, cant find a better man...
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, cant find a better man...
Cant find a better man (2x)
Yeah...

She loved him, yeah...she dont want to leave this way
She feeds him, yeah...thats why shell be back again
Cant find a better man (3x)
Cant find a better...man...
Ohh...ohh...
Uh huh... (5x)
Ohh...
