Unless you are into some SERIOUS porn, then you wont need more than the $499 laptop at bestbuy. You are going to buy a new laptop in 2 years anyway.

BUT WHATEVER you do, DO NOT purchase an extended warranty. They are the biggest waste of money in the world. Around 15 years ago, I was a manager at a Radio Shack and we received between $10-20 bonus for each extended warranty that we sold. That should show you how much they feel that you will need the warranty

You could spend a little more and get the laptop below. But really there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to get anything more, unless you are into some SERIOUS kiddie porn!

I believe that you get a free printer with this computer. I received a free printer with my laptop from bestbuy a few months ago and BY FAR it is the best printer that I have ever had. Although, they sell that free printer for around $70 new, it is a printer, copier and scanner. I have never had a printer as great as this one. And you get that one free at the store I believe with purchase.

First off what are you gonna use the computer for?
If you can afford it stay with the intel centrino dual core, better processor.
Next if you should buy one of these computers, upgrade the ram because all 3 of these ones listed only have 1 gig of ram. You want at least 2 gigs.

Not sure if you noticed but the Pavilion has a 17" screen compared to 14" on the other. With only a $100 price difference its a better value. It will add about a pound of weight to it. Not sure if you plan on occasionally hooking it up to a larger external monitor when at home. If so, then go with the 14" model. If you have several spreadsheets that you will work on at same time while on the road then 17" probably better.

If you plan to do alot of internet then you should definately get a model with integrated wireless which neither appears to have. Lastly, they both only come with 60 day trial of MS office so if you need Excel and Word like you stated plan to shell out a few more hundred for a full version of Office.

I have the second one with the 17" screen. Bought it about 3 weeks ago at best buy for $850, and I love it.

I'm moving and I don't have a PC of my own.
I'm looking to buy a laptop so I can use it anywhere in my new place.

What am I using it for ?
Basic Excell, Word, E-Mail, surfing the web, and D/L movies/music.

Would this one be enough for me ?

If this is the only reason why you need the laptop, then you ONLY need to buy the $449 computer on sale this week at circuit city or best buy. Anything is a SERIOUS waste of money for your use patterns. This computer is perfect for 90% of America. Just most people like to throw money away and buy more than they need. You will buy a new computer in 3 years anyway

Right - for what he said he will use it for this is more than enough. Just make sure of slots for additional ram down the road. Many swear by brand name but I don't think that is a big deal anymore if you go with a well known brand. Get the special at BestBuy/CircCity or the like for $500 - why spend double? What a coincidence as I was typing Circuit City there is an ad on tv for CircCity!!! Give me some odds on that one!
Seriously don't spend more thinking that you're getting more, it all depends on what you use pc for.

Unless you are into some SERIOUS porn

unless you are into some SERIOUS kiddie porn!

I am not into any major porn

You have issues. First of all, why would you need a good laptop (high internet speed is what you want) and why do you think (kiddie) porn is the only reason for a good laptop?

upgrade the ram because all 3 of these ones listed only have 1 gig of ram. You want at least 2 gigs

Like PO69 said anything more than a basic laptop is a waste on 90% of consumers. If he doesn't know he needs more than 1 gig then any more than that is unnecessary.

But they actually have laptops for less money would be PERFECT for you!

This is the best computer that you will find RUDE. No reason even wasting time buying online.

Playersonly69,

Looks like a good laptop, but the only problem is I live in Canada.

You dont have bestbuy in Canada? Or Circuit City? Hell Office Depot has this same deal as well or close to it.

All I will say is that I am VERYYYY satisfied with my purchase of 6 months ago. Of course I will buy another one in 2 or 3 years though. using the computer for free while on the road is a lifesaver! Most hotels offer free internet access, Well not Las Vegas hotels, but in other cities, you will get free access at hotels like Holiday Inn, Best Western, Ramada and so forth
