Toronto -127

Blue Jays have won 7 of their last 10 games
Devil Rays have lost 8 of their last 10 games

Blue Jays definitely have the pitching advantage...

Dustin McGowan, RHP (7-5, 4.45) (Blue Jays pitcher)
Batters hitting .242 AVG

vs

Andy Sonnanstine, RHP (1-6, 5.57) (Devil Rays pitcher)

Batters hitting .290 AVG

________________________

Devil Rays Bullpen ERA= 6.78
Blue Jays Bullpen ERA= 3.42

I'd be interested in seeing how many of your picks in threads similar to this over the last few weeks have won. Based on casually noticing that they win often I'd say pretty well over .500.

hey guys...can you guys tell me this could be a trend here?? I am thinking about betting on Toronto also, but if you guys look at Mcgowan's stat, when he give up 0 run in the previous game, he seems to give up some runs on next games. For example, he gave up 0 run to Colorado on June 24th and on June 29th, he gave up 5 runs to Seattle and lasted only 5 innings. This happened again on july 4th to Oakland. He gave up 0 run on that day and on July 14th he gave up 6 runs to Boston. On July 24th, he gave up 0 run to Min. So will he give up some runs to TB today?? I saw on mlb.com that Mcgowan made some adjusment and stat throwing more offspeed pitches and it has been effective so far. But will that effect continues today?

Blue Jays: On July 13, McGowan abandoned an inconsistent curveball and was pounded for six runs by the Red Sox. Toronto manager John Gibbons told the young pitcher that he should have stuck with the pitch to keep hitters off-balance. In his two starts since, McGowan has stuck with his full arsenal -- even when struggling with control on a few pitches -- and the move has paid off. The right-hander had pieced together two straight wins, including 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Twins in his last start. McGowan owns a 1.59 ERA in his seven victories, and he has a 4.70 ERA in two career games against the Rays.

Toronto wins this.

TB has nobody in their bullpen.... they used Al Reyes for 40+ pitches two days ago.. and Glover yesterday for two innings.... They can't use those guys for long and if Toronto gets a couple runs early, TB is done.

Sonnanstine is a garbage pitcher and doesn't belong in the big leagues. His fastball tops out at about 88 and he doesn't have an overwhelming curve. I fade him each time out.

I'll be on the other side. Really just a gut feeling the Toronto bats go cold against Sonnanstine (due for a decent start, I hope) while the Rays bats shell a streaky McGowan. Someone will walk away with something in their pocket after this game.

No bullpen has finished with an ERA as bad as what the TB bullpen has currently

I would never bet on such an unreliable team with such a bad starter, it's asking for trouble.

Toronto wins in this matchup 7/10 times - you must realize that though.
I can't argue against a gut feeling.

Tampa's lineup can put up runs, and if McGowan's control is off and is walking people, Tampa will make him pay with their speed and the awful throwing arm of Greg 'worst starting position player in the league' Zaun. Jays lineup isn't anything special either.
