angels are hot after the det series but a different team on the road. seattle is within striking distance and can really narrow the gap with a good showing at home.

go with the hot angels or the should be motivated mariners?

My thoughts . . .

After an initial look at today's small card, the only game that has jumped out at me thus far is the Angels/Mariners over 8.5, +113. Escobar has been great this year, but one of the few bad starts he's had was in Seattle. Both teams are very capable of putting up a crooked number at any point in this game, as we saw in their last series in Seattle (15 runs by LAA, 14 by Seattle). Batista's ERA against LAA is just a tad under 7 over 5 starts and 10 total apperances. And he's got an ERA of 4.53, a WHIP of 1.47, and a BAA of .271 at home this season. While Escobar comes in with some great stats, he's not quite the same pitcher on the road, where he sports a 4.22 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP and a .276 BAA. Against Seattle he's got a 5.05 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP, and a .298 BAA in 15 starts and 28 total appearances. I haven't played this one yet, but if anyone has any thoughts on this one I'd love to hear them.

I'll chime in little bit even though I don't have professional record to back my thoughts. As you guys know already, Angels and Mariners put some big numbers on their scoreboards lately. Batista has been pitching quite well at home against tough teams. As for Escobar, he only gave 1 run to Texas and 0 run to TB when he pitched away in the month of July and lasted more than 7 innings. I think he will stay same for this game. I see 3-2 or 4-2 type of game or even less scores. Therefore, not touching this game. GL to all tho.

Below is why I like the OVER,.... stupid touts.

I Like Jibba's analyses more than Big AL's.

Big Al's MLB Divisional Total of the Year.
Game: Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners Jul 30 2007 10:05PM
Prediction: under
Reason: At 10:05 pm, our AL West Total of the Year is on the 'under' in the Seattle/Anaheim game. Miguel Batista will take the mound for Seattle, and he's gone 'under' the total in 11 of his last 17 starts. Batista's mound opponent will be Kelvim Escobar, who has gone 'under' in 12 of his last 16 games (including all 4 of his July starts), and 33 of 48 since last year. Escobar's in terrific form, as he's given up just 5 earned runs and put on only 36 baserunners in July (29 2/3 innings) for a 1.51 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Look for a low-scoring game at Safeco tonight. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

Unfortunately Big Al got it right last night on this one. Congrats to the under backers. Good call.
