Despite his immaculate play on the diamond, Alex Rodriguez can't seem to avoid controversy off of it.
In an interview with WEEI-Radio in Boston on Friday, Jose Canseco, author of the 2005 steroid tell-all "Juiced," claimed that he had "other stuff on Alex Rodriguez," that he hopes to release in a second book currently being shopped to publishers.
Canseco went on to call Rodriguez a "hypocrite," and suggested that the all-star third baseman "was not all he appeared to be."
When asked if Rodriguez had used steroids, Canseco said, "Wait and see."
"Jose has information about A-Rod and the Yankees that will be in the book," Canseco's lawyer, Robert O. Saunooke told The New York Times Sunday.
"But, I am not sure if Jose is willing to disclose it at this point."
Saunooke also said told the Times that his client had met with George Mitchell, the head of baseball's investigation of steroids in baseball, and detailed "what players, managers and owners knew and all the ins and outs of drug use and procedures." Canseco, he said, will meet Mitchell and his team again next month.
The report is another headache for Rodriguez, who is in the midst of possibly an MVP season for the Yankees. In May, Rodriguez was forced to deal with rumors of extramarital affairs after he was spotted outside a Toronto strip-club with a then-unidentified blonde.
Asked by reporters on Saturday in Baltimore if he had heard Canseco's remarks, Rodriguez replied: "Nope. I haven't. And I have no comment."
