I have absoutely no knowledge of baseball. I just started fantasy baseball and I still dont know shit. I have Josh Beckett as my pitcher and considering I never watch baseball, I thought I put a lil on him tonite against the Orioles to start watching the sport.

Is this a good bet? I think it was at -130 or something. Or should I listen to my friend and take the Yanks (Mussina) -230 agaisnt the white sox (Contreras). I want to bet on one of those so I have a reason to watch the game.

1st of all, I would not lay Mussina against anyone at all. While Contreras might be pitching shitty as of late, this might actually be a good place to back him. The Yankees are just way too inconsistant with their bats IMO. They feast and famine together.

2nd, I wouldnt bet against Bedard either. He has lethal stuff, and laying any kind of wood against him also seems risky.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yes don't lay with Beckett.. Bedard has an ERA of .90 and a WHIP of .85 (which might not mean much to you since you don't really know much about basball..but is unbelievably good) in his last 3 starts resulting in a 3-0 record. If you decide to touch that game I think the best bet would be the under 8.0 runs scored.

Good morning AJP.

TKim, right now it looks to me like the Cardinals are the best bet on the board. They have a streaking pitcher that go touched up by some Cubs bats, but they still have all the momentum in the world on their side. Ill have a detailed write-up in my thread later on, but you might want to get them while their price is cheap. I have a feeling that CK is going to call that line very weak, but they seem to be on one of those Cardinals streaks where the rip of 8 or 9 in a row.

Good morning to you as well. I also replied to your thread about that game. I am on the Pirates, but not sure for how much or if I'll even play them. I just really respect how Paul Maholm has battled all season to get a respectable ERA and how well he has been pitching as of late. I just think that if the Pirates are going to make anything of this season it has got to start tonight at home with their hottest pitcher on the mound.

I think the definition of a bad bet is one you can't afford.

Otherwise, it's fine. You're picking randomly, which obviously is a 50-percent proposition. Most people who bet daily and know the sport can't even hit 50 percent. So, just bet one of the games and have fun - just as long as you can afford to lose.
