Just not sold on this deal for the Celtics. Yes, they get one of the league's best players in Kevin Garnett. However, they gave up a ton. Jefferson is a guy who I think can be a real star in the league. Also gave up 3 other young guys who may turn out to be decent. Green has a lot of promise. Gomes looks to be a solid role player. In addition, they are also giving up two future 1st round picks. Just seems like so much. I would still take the Heat, Pistons, Cavs, and Bulls over the Celtics this season. The Celts do not have anyone else on the roster worth a shit. Maybe Tony Allen, who is coming off a major injury. But that is all. Perkins as the starting center is a joke. He is a stiff. Rando is a nice backup in the league, but not a starter. They only have 9 guys under contract. Just not so sure about this one. :think2:

excellent trade for a bunch of question marks. spread you said jefferson may turn out to be a star and green has promise. well they got one of the biggest stars in the game. and they love rondo.
lets take a quick look at the east...miami, got smush, what a joke!!! cleve , has done nothing, still a fluke. bulls, legit, especially if thomas has improved as much as they're saying. det, has done nothing except get older just like the heat.
not a team in this league would not want allen and garnett. three legit stars in their prime ages 29, 31 and 32 playing in the shit eastern conference. celtics will be for real and may well be the favs in the east.

Jefferson far overrated. He put up nice numbers as a go to guy on a crap team which resulted in the opposition not playing their A defense against Boston often times. Cannot argue the deal, SINCE they got Allen. Might as well go for broke if you made that deal.

No question that the Celts have the best trio in the East....but what do they have after that? Pretty much nothing. They is still tons of time before camp opens, so there is a strong chance that they arent done yet. So I guess I will reserve judgement until I see the finished product.

As for your much hated Miami, the addition of Smush is an upgrade over Payton. Just stating the facts. I dont like Smush at all, but he is an upgrade.

Celts are sorta like Miami was a couple years ago due to Shaq...but even more so. They better win it in the next handful of years, because they're gonna be shit in 5-7.

Hell of a starting 5 now, but what about 5 years from now? These guys can't play forever...

I agree. Who else is going to play with the big 3? They all gonna play 44 minutes a game? I'd like the deal more for thwem if they had a legit point guard and or center.

KG is a great player but it's not like he's an all time great. His low post game is relatively limited - he relies a lot on jumpers and putbacks. His best asset is his vision and willingness to dish the ball. Don't know if he is worth 3 prospects and 2 first rounders at this point of his career. Would you rather give up all of that for KG or get Zach Randolph for one prospect as the Knicks did?

On top of that it takes time for a basketball team to come together and gel. This isn't a sport where you can walk out the best players and win. It's a team sport - ask USA basketball. I'd rank them 5th right now behind Det, Mia, Cle, Chi.

Garnett just had his press conference, He closed by saying I just want to say I have never been on a cruise and got a huge laugh apparently some reporter in Boston had said he was on the Viking love boat cruise a couple years ago.

Garnett was not on that cruise

totally a homer here... But, seeing as Cleveland went to the finals, I would think the celts should be considered top 3 in the east. Want to talk about old? Shaq. Coming back from injury? Wade. Lack of support? Cleveland. ...and after last year I'd say Detroit is just a mess.

It seems like Heat fans are hating here - the C's went from a terrible team to a team that could make a finals - OVERNIGHT - that has to be exciting for Boston fans - no, they will not beat any Western Conference team but I would imagine Cleveland fans enjoyed their ride - I think Heat fans are hating because there team failed to get any better - in fact, they got worse - coupled by the realization that their lone ring was probably the biggest fluke in the history of the NBA.

Boston has too much history to be fielding shit teams for so long.

The Celtics still have one guy who does one thing particularly well, which is defend Kevin Garnett. Other than that, he's practically useless. They should've fit Scalabrini in that package and kept Gomes.

let miami and cleves owners hang on to their billions while the east just passes them by.
