Hello everyone,

Before I get started, please no bashing. I'm pretty much swallowing my pride to post this on here...I don't know what else to do.

I am a college student (in my last year) who goes to school full time and also work full time. I have paid for nearly all of my classes this summer, but not all of it. My financial aid office told me I have to pay my summer balance before fall classes start (Aug. 20th) and right now, I don't have the money to do that (and neither do my parents, one a teacher, one a secretary). I have tried everything at my disposal, and none of it has worked. I am so stressed out with school and the lack of money is just making matters worst. With the loan I would also like to pay off the couple of credit cards I have, because just paying the minimium is not helping my credit score at all.

Also, making monthly payments would not be a problem. I have a really good paid internship ($15.00 and hour...good for a college kid) so I bring home $1800 after taxes each month. But, after rent/car (which is 450 a month) I still have alot, that has basically all gone to my summer school loan balance. Also, we could set up monthly payments so that each payment is directly taken from my bank account to yours...I think that would be the best way to do things.

So basically, I am looking for a loan at $6,000 and willing to negotiate the interest rate. I don't want to get murdered on it, but would be willing to have an interest rate at 15% for 36 months.

Trust me, I have tried everything (bank, prosper, etc.) but I do not have enough of a credit history/score to take out any kind of loan, and my parents are maxed out and can't cosign for anything. Plus, time is of the essence as I really need this loan quickly as school is about to start.

If anyone would be willing to help you would truly make a difference in my life. Please respond on here, or get my email from one of the mods and we can talk on there.

Totally understandable xpanda. I really don't see this is as a risk though, but more as an investement. Plus, to anyone willing to help, we would put safeguards in place that you get paid every month.

Hey hattrick, come on man, I am in a bind, at least try to be understanding. If not, don't respond. It's as simple as that.

I have already have gone to prosper.com. I don't have the credit history to register (as I don't have much), nor the time to wait to get funded

I'm going to try to read between the lines ...............

You're a college kid that plays football and march madness, never really played baseball, but started this years because your a red sox or yankees fan and "they always win." Now after a few weeks of those -180/-200 favs eating you alive, your in a hole. The juice is running on your debt and you don't know where else to go for the 5K or so you've gotten yourself down.

No one is going to give you money here. But some real advice: Go to a bank and get a parent/grandparent/relative to co-sign a personal loan with you.

Haven't looked into it, but what about a federal student loan?
this will help pay off college, but won't take care of the car payments, although your internship looks like it might cover those, or do a federal student loan and take out a personal loan for the car.

Take a semester off and get your finances in shape. Borrowing money will only compound the problem(15%). Hopefully, this isn't gambling related. It happens to everyone. Keep your head up.

Sell the car and get a bus pass. If that's not an option, skip summer school and work extra to get back on your feet.

Or move in with Poker King Jim and share expenses.

If the lenders at Prosper would not fund your loan then there IS a real risk here. What is your credit rating on prosper? How about a link to the prosper loan you attempted to get? What safeguards could be put into place that would guarantee this loan? Do you have collateral? Why does a college kid have a $450 car payment?

I could possibly help you, but this is hardly a no risk loan.

bellyputter beat me to it. I really think that's the best option. Missing one semester won't kill you.

WVU,

The $450 is my car payment (175) and rent each month (275).

Here is the link from prosper saying no:
http://by127w.bay127.mail.live.com/...2d99-5e71-4279-b3a3-2b3e90acf80d&n=1991889922

Let me know if that works or not.

Safeguards such as constant contact, phone numbers, addresses, etc. I think the biggest safeguard would be if someone would help, would have the monthly payment taking right out of my bank account and put into yours...like a ACH I would think. I am almost positive this can be set up with my bank.

To everyone else...thank you for your advice. To respond to a statement, no this is not gambling related. Reality is I can't sell my car and I can't stop going to school. I have one more year of school and can almost taste it. To stop now would to be throwing away the last few years and I can't do this.

This isn't a sob story totalguy. I put myself out on the line to post this, and I understand some people will take the mentality of "haha yea right fuck this guy". I can see where some people might think that...like I said I really don't know what else to do...hence this post. Any useful advice is welcomed.

Can you tell us why you can't co-sign a personal loan and why you can't take out a federal student loan?

Move back in with the folks, take some time off from school, at 15 bucks an hour you make plenty to work full time, sell your car...can't imagine what you are driving that costs 450 a month, and quit gambling for awhile...there has got to be a reason that you are on a gambling site....tear up your credit cards, and by the way, welcome to the real world..
