I am moving to Vegas this week. I'm looking for some place CHEAP to stay temporarily. Any ideas?? Looking to be semi close to the strip depending on rates. I don't care about luxury...just a bed and a TV and somewhat safe...lol

Kind of OT, but are you moving to vegas to sportsbet?

I cant imagine anyone doing that, but curious to hear your reasoning if so.

NO!!!! I like to bet and play poker but not the reason for the move. I do not have to funds to try and do it for a living...lol It did help me decide where to move though. Only place to bet sports in the USA.

For someone with that experience, you should have your pick of the litter.

There are a few wekly places that you could start at. Granted it has been a few years sine i lived there but i remember when a friend of mine moved to Vegas he stayed at "shelter island apts" near Maryland. Not the greatest area but he paid like $170 a week and came furnished with utilities.
Also there are some short term apts named "Budget suites". They are all over the valley and are not bad. They go for a little more money. When i went there to visit last i stayed in the one next to Sam's town. Not somewhere to live forever but a decent place to start. http://budgetsuites.com/
Hope that helps.

Unless you know someone its not easy to start. I came from N.Y with 10 years fine dining experience (Serving)in NYC and the Hamptons and it took me 6 weeks to find a decent job. Get down to the union as soon as you can and signup.Get all your cards (Sheriff card, health card, Tam card) as employers will take those who already have everything first. It will make it alot easier. You can also get on the banquet list as they pay real well.
I did both serving and managing and you are better off just serving. The pay is much better (due to the union server minimum wage), the hours are less and a hell of alot less stressful.
