Honestly though, the state of sports broadcasting is so poor, the women really aren't any worse than the men.

Just mute the TV and enjoy the game without any kind of useless drivel.

Mary Carillo is basically the only good one out there. Susan Waldman is just awful. She is so bad and ugly on top of it. Who the hell wants to here a mouthy woman when your cracking open a beer and trying to relax.

The woman on the golf channel is as good as most of the men - forget her name but good looking with a southern husky voice.

I don't listen to most announcers as a general rule...so it doesn't bother me.

In football, I think Suzy Kolber is knowledgeable. And it's always nice to look at eye-candy like Erin Andrews on the sidelines...she could be reciting Emily Dickinson poems for all I care.

I can't recall any names but there were a couple of college hoops announcers/commentators that were competent.

I think the badger/ESPN 2 afternoon games are done by Pam Ward. She's usually paired up with an old, senile guy. Worst combo in the business.

Pam Ward...yeah, I make sure the volume is low when I hear her games. Dull, flat voice to boot.

Plus, she's not attractive at all...just a notch above Rosie O'Dumbo.

the one i used to hate was that old hag, leslie vicker or vichey or some shit. she gets on & the other announcers talk abt her like she's hof. if there's gotta be women on the sidelines, they most def have to be somewhat hot. thought the j namath & s kobler was classic.

Judy Rankin is a good golf commentator. I'm not sure she is who you mean though. I don't think I've ever seen her - so I don't know if she's good looking - but she's probably in her 60's. She just does a good low-key job.

I take the women announcers on a case-by-case basis. Some I hate (Lesley Visser). Some Canadians are probably familiar with Terry Leibel and Theresa Hergert. Just awful.

There are more and more chicks doing the sportsdesk shows around here who are hot and at least know how to pronounce the names. That's all I really ask.

http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/monday-night-football-treats-objects-like-women-15920

A media source has told PRO FOOTBALL TALK that Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber will no longer be part of the Monday Night Football crew.

The reasons aren’t entirely clear, but it definitely strikes a little gender imbalance into the crew.

No more boy-girl-boy-girl-boy pictures, at least for now. We can at least hope they work a little Erin Andrews into the mix, right? As for now, PFT takes a stab at the reasoning.

“Both served as sideline reporters. Tafoya worked in the same role with ABC when the ESPN sister company last aired MNF. Kolber likewise reported from the field with ESPN’s former Sunday night package. When the Monday night broadcast moved to ESPN for a whopping $1.1 billion per year, Kolber and Tafoya were both assigned to the show.

Their performance has been the subject of some criticism, especially in this space. The reports at times were heavy on pre-planned content, and light on in-game information. Also, it’s never been clear why two of them are needed.”

It’s also not known how these lads are taking the news.

*UPDATE*: PFT follows up with a statement from the Worldwide Leader about cutting Kolber & tossing Tafoya.

ESPN has issued a statement in response to our report that Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber have been dumped from the Monday Night Football broadcast.

“Michele and Suzy will still be assigned to our multiplatform Monday Night Football presentation, including the game, pre-game and post-game,” the statement says. “Their precise roles are currently being determined.”

Also, we’ve been told by an ESPN spokesperson that Tafoya and Kolber will continue to travel to the site of each game.

So what does any of this mean? Clearly, something is up. Otherwise, there would be nothing about their roles to “determine.” Also, ESPN might be holding out hope that they opt to give up their assignments to MNF, so that in the end it will appear that they weren’t removed from the team.

Said one of our sources in response to the statement, “It’s bullshit . That’s all I can tell you. Utter bullshit. They are no longer sideline reporters.”

What I hate most is women's college basketball scores on the sports ticker. I'm looking for a score and I have to wait while they scroll thru that crap.
