Being a baseball fan I sure would like to be happy for Barry Bonds... I was a Pirates and Giants fan for a long time because of him, but because of the steroids accusation and the fact that he showed up to spring training in 2001 with 25 pounds of muscle that wasn't there in 2000, I am not that impressed. Sure I couldn't do it but Hank Aaron played in the not juiced era (steroids and ball), that means more to me than Bonds doing it.

Does anyone else feel that way?

I think his arrogance and the fact that he doesn't seem to care about anyone else but himself really turns me off. I can't wait for A-Rod to smoke the HR record and I'm not really an A-Rod fan. I hate the way Bonds hits a ball and then stairs at it... Or hit's a pop fly to the outfield and just walks to first... Sure he's 43 years old but come on, can't he show a little hustle.

He claims that winning is the most important thing...BS!!! If it were he would've have taken a couple mill off his 17 mill salary so the Giants could sign some players worth a sh!t. Can you imagine paying someone 17 mill who is going to hit .275, have 35 HR's 90 RBI's, and 80 Runs!!!!!!!!

If the Giants plan on winning anytime soon they better get rid of Bonds next year... That 17 mill could come in handy...

Barry is Barry

that aint changing. Either is the fact that he is 1 of the 5 best ballplayers of all-time. Cannot debate that. Pre-roids/HGH/Cream/whatever else... dude is unreal in that batters box. personally, I prefer dudes like Eric Brynes, Pete Rose, Shawon Dunston, Aaron Rowand, Polanco etc. etc. etc. Balls to wall type players who play the game the RIGHT WAY always and never take it 4 granted.

How come no one ever mentions the fact that Bonds played in a park that is literally the hardest park in the majors to hit home runs, while Aaron played in a placed called the launching pad. Or no one ever mentions that while Bonds was on roids so were a shitload of the pitchers that he hit those home runs off. I would venture to say that between 200 to 300 of Bonds's home runs were off pitchers that were on the same stuff Bonds was on. How many Home runs did Aaron hit off of pitchers that were on roids?

EasyMoney has a good point as Mac and Sammy did it first and Bond followed suit a couple years later.

A offensive line man is being thrown around like a twig by these juiced up pass rushers so he;s gotta get with the program or lose his position and ultimatly his juced up salry, same analogy.

Mind you a true great ball player would of just shook it off and played by the rules.

I have no vendective ill will towards Bonds nor do I marvel.

I just watch the scoreboard for the most part and cringe

Aaron could have been on roids to. Cheating has been apart of baseball for over 100 years, almost everyone including Ruth could have used them. Hell Pud Galvin even injected monkey testosterone to improve his performance on the mound in 1889. I just think it's funny people will say Bonds is such a bad person, mean guy, etc. when they themselves haven't met the guy. I have to meet Bonds and talk with him before I determine whether he's an ass or not. I can't just read papers and columns and believe what is printed since the majority of it is false.

These dumb asterisks need to go away because the game of baseball period is a cheaters game, always has and always will. You can asterisk Bonds HR, make sure you asterisk every other record then.

by the way Mac, The pitcher that Bonds hit #755 off was suspended in 2005 for using steriods. You are obviously clueless about how many steroids were in the game.

I personally dont care about all the controversy ....i like seeing big fly's, not pitches duals. If you cant punish all the players that have done it, then they shouldnt just pick out a choosen few and knock them. Bottom line is, nobody will ever know. Alex Rodriguez will break barry's record when it's all said and done

It's funny how everybody assumes that A-Fraud is a lock to eventually own the record. Assuming that he is NOT juiced, players sometimes decline quickly, even without suffering serious injuries-indeed, the guy whose record A-Fraud broke to become the youngest 500 homer guy, Jim Foxx, finished well down the all time list, relatively speaking, even before the current era. It's not like A-Fraud is gonna hang on because he needs the money, and, depending on how many more he gets this season, he'd have to average roughly 40 a year for six years to get in the mid 700s. I don't think he's a stone cold lock to play 6 more years, let alone play them injury free. But, for now, all the teeth gnashers can do is to set their alarm clocks for several years from now, because the Mitch Alboms of the world can ignore the record all they want, but Bonds will own it...

A-rod is also the only player in history to hit at least 30 HR & 100 RBI's in 10 consecutive seasons.....not saying he hasnt taken any enhancements because he very well could have but what makes you think he cant do it for another 5-6 years when you have guys like gary sheffield.... who is going to be 40 this year..... putting up huge numbers.

and if he was going for the all time wins record for a pitcher there would be an asterisk by his name too, anyone watching sportscenter knows he was on roids also, dont act like ur the only one who dug up that info

Did I say that. No I didn't. the fact is 50% minimum of major leagers were on something in the early 2000's. And even still every one of them can take all the HGH they want because baseball doesn't test for it. And when Bonds did take the shit it wasn't even against baseballs rules. Why don't you put an * by Roger Clemens name than because he gained more weight than Bonds has since they came into the league. His legs are absolutly massive and he's what 103 years old. Of all the players that have been suspened since baseball stated testing almost 60% of them have been pitchers. I guess it's O.K. if they juice though, just as long as Sammy, Mac, Giambi, and Bonds don't. How about Eric Gange, the guy went from O.K. to the best closer in the game to an injury prone decent guy. What about the countless guys that threw 88 MPH and then came back the next spring throwing 94 MPH. That has a direct effect on hitters when a pitcher is throwing 6 MPH faster than he used to.

show the proof that 50% of baseball guys juiced? it was against the rules to juice, but no policy condemning it or tests for it, and for the clemens weight gain, theres a difference, clemens weight gain was old age and fat, it wasnt muscle, like bonds putting on 21 pounds in 2001, and most players career doesnt peek at 40, like bonds, and gagne was juicing yes

He may, and then again, he may not. The guy who previously held the record for being the youngest to 500 dingers, Jimmy Foxx, hit only 34 more after that feat. A different era, to be sure, but the point is some people decline earlier and more abruptly than others. Speaking of which, I find it curious that you'd use Sheffield-another suspected juicer-as an example of how one could prolong one's (clean) career. A-Fraud has been pretty lucky with regard to injuries for his career, that may change abruptly, too, as Junior Griffey found out...
