turner field: rockies 5-2 last 7, realistic contenders for post-season play. cook 8-6, 4.13; 1.82 in 4 starts since break. In sink with his sinker and crispness to his slider; 1.52, 16 hits over last 23 2/3 innings pitched. 2.94 era in 12 road starts.
caution: despite all of the above, it should be noted that cook is 0-1, 5.81 in six games (4 starts) vs. ATL. he's also 1-4, 5.31 in day starts.
ATL jones out (cortisone), but able replacement: teixeira (impressive debut, with 0-for last outing noted . . . so go cook, hex teixeira.
james 9-8, 3.70; struggling. 1-0, 8.03 in 3 (2 starts). Late April vs. rockies hit for four runs over 5 1/3 innings pitched. when he has sub-par starts though, he's been getting run support (eg. Tues vs. astros he allowed for runs in 5 but left the game with his team up one; braves went on to win that one 12-4.
