And if you have - did anyone manage to get their restriction lifted?

As of a few days ago, I was informed that due to "unusual activity", my account was restricted until I provided a photo ID, and a couple of bank statements. Without going into heavy detail, one of the bank statements they want to see concerns a reloadable Visa gift card. I've explained to customer service numerous times over the phone that I'm reloading my gift cad, and that it's not a bank per se, but to no avail. I've shown them an online statement, with merchant names blocked out; but because it doesn't show my address but only my name and account number it's not good enough for their security department. Each time I try to satisfy their requests it's not good enough - I get form e-mails back. I feel like I'm not only running into a bureaucratic brick wall, but I'm living in a police state. From what I've read elsewhere, I'm likely to never get reinstated and they will most likely hold on to my money that I have left in my account at Paypal for 6 months before they give it back!

So be very careful how you use your Paypal account so that you don't end up in the same situation as me! Given today's environment I should have known better, but still this seems a bit extreme.

go here and cry

http://www.paypalsucks.com

I once had an issue with a vendor that was selling me a very particular cpu .....he apologized as paypal froze his accounts and he was totally on the edge of bankruptcy........he sold several thousands of dollars and had them stashed in paypal and now they were froze (along with my order for instance that he had not shipped yet so mine didnt result in a loss to him ...........)

when paypal works its great......but when it doesn't its like dealing with the Mafia.............

They have an account of mine under a different email under restriction but they never explained why. Since I have never used them for anything I really don't care.

How is loading your netspend card with them.... pretty easy?

Every time someone transfers money into my account I have issues with them for being outside Canada and the USA. They are a pain in the ass but if you fax them everything they ask for its usually gets lifted within 24 hours. Just send them whatever they ask you for and fax them the bar code and your good to go.

It was until this happened. At this point, even if I do somehow manage to get my account back to normal I don't think it will be a viable option unless I get assurance from someone in their security department that they aren't going to redflag my account anytime I load up my card. I'm pretty pessimistic, but I asked Netspend to send me a statement that shows my name and address, we'll see what it looks like and if that will satisfy the powers that be at PayPal. If not, I'll have to see how fast they're willing to close out my account.

If I understand right, you Loaded your CC through Paypal ?? or Unloaded it ??
If it is a Transaction it can be Refunded back ( one of the Only things you can do when Paypal is restricted )

Also didn't know that it was a 6 Month holdback, it used to be 3 Months
and then Without ANY PROBLEM at all, you can withdraw your money..with No Questions asked.

I had a few problems over the years dealing with Paypal... Ever since Ebay bought it, nothing but Problems.

i got restricted once a long time back, i had basically 2 accounts open and one of them ended up with a negative balance and got closed, my other account was always used and in good standing but got restricted till the other account got resolved and paid off..took a good 30 days from start to finish to get that all resolved too.
