I was watching a sports talk show today and they were talking about gambling in sports and the NBA ref who was betting on games and Jordon came up as being a big gambler and they said the reason Jordon left the NBA for a few years remember when he played minor league baseball it was becasue he was suspended by the NBA for gambling.

And to be honest with you that kind of makes sense now that you think about it why would be quit the NBA to play minor league baseball and come back a couple years later sounds like something just to save his rep.

yup i heard this rumor as well back in the 90s... Ive always believed this theory since day 1... the guy was a know gambler... big game gambler and there was just no way D. Stern coulda tolerated that. Saying that Jordan was booted from the league from gambling woulda been a black eye - not that there isnt enough black eyes to that league already

This has been a rumor for a while and I believe it. You cant suspend the Face of the league for gambling that would look horrible. I believe the baseball thing was bc of Jordan gambling and they used the baseball experiment to cover it up

This Urban legend has been going around for years now , similar to the one where the Mob whacked his father to show they meant business about his debts ... But who knows for sure , Wanna be like Mike ? Ask Mike.

I believe the baseball and gambling myth but definitely not the death of his father. Jordan had unlimve ever been put in a situation like that. Jordans dad was just brutally murdered while sleeping in his car late at night by a couple scumbags.

By the way I guess he was doing more than just gambling in general and more than just betting on basketball I would think to kick the best player out for was it 1 or 2 seasons would probaly be for fixing games.

Also what would you think his image would be if this was confirmed and known would he still be a legend or cheating bastard and and not liked.

If Jordan was betting, I doubt he was fixing his own games, but betting on his bulls teams to cover.

Maybe this is explanation for all those infamous "Jordan has the flu", the line steamed opposite bulls, and then MJ dropped 50 on an opponent and covered the #.

IGO, the myth is plausible and very possible. Even wouldn't doubt the killing of his father as being connected to it. He didn't have to be in financial trouble with someone for that to happen.

:think2: :think2: Interesting to say the least. That theory isn't exactly far fetched.

this isn't even a rumor. It's been known for a long time. Stern is far more keen to gambling than he lets on.

How do you misspell the name of the greatest player ever 3 times in one post?

IF 23 bet...

He would have only bet for the Bulls to cover.

I thought he retired because of the cut he sustained on his finger...from the cigar.
