Chances of catching Stand-by tomorrow from Phoenix to DSM at 6 am ??

I have a flight at 6 pm tomorrow, but need to get out of here sooner. I called to see if I could catch an earlier flight, but they said the flight is full. If I go to the airport tomorrow morning at 4 and I can't catch it on standby I may be stuck all day. Give me some odds on catching the 6 am flight?

How can they possibly OVERSELL a flight. What happens if everyone that signed up goes?

airlines have to oversell flights...always have

if everyone signs up...people go stand by, that's why sometimes when you get a flight you can't get seats until you check in day of.

i'd say you have a 50/50 shot

:lolBIG: I'm just telling what my experience has been.

Can't say I've ever tried it with US Airways-mainly Frontier or United who tend to have multiple flights a day to\from the same airports-so that may have made my odds a little better.

i'm guessing the 6 am flight is filled with business travelers, so i think it actually hurts you..

since you're flying solo it helps a bit...i was probably high with the 50% earlier


so there are no flights between 6 am and 6 pm?

that's hard to believe

Us Air and Southwest and Air Tran pack the fuckers so tight. Airtran damn asked us to clean around our area on our last flight if we would like to keep the airfares low.:WTF:

The one thing I never understood is the fucking need for a beverage dispersement on a 2 hour flight. Does someone really need a glass of orange juice. They cant wait till they get the fuck off.

use a website "check available seats", it shows the actual open seats. the same info as the airlines use only wont tell you

Kruser, call the airline back & ask how many seats are open.

A lot of times travel agents will have "holds" on tickets that are good for a couple of hours. Don't be surprised if a couple seats are now open. At least make sure that they don't tell you that it's already oversold. That would not be cool.
