Is Dish Network any good?

I went to a site that has customer reviews for Dish Network and they are all bad. However, usually it is only the people with bad experiences that go to these sites. Is anyone here happy with Dish Network or know someone who is happy with it? They are definitely a better deal than Direct TV or cable.

Directv kicks their ass in every way...

Does anyone know how it compares to cable? Basically they are about $7.00 a month less than Direct TV or Cable for the same channels. But if the picture quality isn't as good, it is not worth it.

the only advantage satelite has over cable is the NFL contract

without it most cable systems can simply offer more ( on demand services, better customer service, local free repair, etc)

and dish doesnt have the nfl package

so..

your local cable system would offer more channels and if you choose digital the same reception quality dish can offer...if your satelite is installed correctly

do not get dish network... my mom has one at her place and reception is so bad... once or twice per day, they just lose signal and I have to either wait 10 min to reconnect or I have to power it off and turn it back on... it's really pain in the ass to use their sattlite box...

The only good thing about the Dish network is that you can steal their signal through that FTA setup

Personally, I don't find Directv all that expensive.

I have just about everything except movie channels (I do have HBO, but not Showtime, Skinemax, etc.), all of the cable channels, sports package, Tivo, 2 extra boxes, NY and LA feeds (for CBS, Fox, ABC), Setanta Sports and it is about $105/month.

Coincidentally enough I am on with their customer service right now and WOW have they really fucked up their CS. Used to be able to get a VERY polite and helpful person easily and quickly, now they put you into the worst phone tree I have literally ever been in.

Probably a dumb question.
Can I get satellite, and keep internet through my cable company? I don't want to lose my email address.

Yes. I have Directv and Comcast high-speed with the very basic cable. If f I were to cancel all the cable and keep just the Comcast internet, they would charge me more. I look at it as the basic cable is free.
