FF league, we can start 3 rbs each week (two minimum, plus a flex). Scoring: td=6pts / 10yds rush/rec=1pt / .5pt per reception.

Which group of RBs would you rather have?

(This is a 14-person, 4-player keeper league, in case anyone wonders how in the hell I have these options available. We keep four guys, each keeper thrown back into the pot after three years on a team.)

Group One
Rudi Johnson
Travis Henry
Brian Westbrook

Group Two
Rudi Johnson
Brandon Jacobs
Larry Johnson

Group Three
Rudi Johnson
Travis Henry
Willie Parker

Group Four
Rudi Johnson
Travis Henry
Thomas Jones
Brandon Jacobs (my current set of four)

I'm not sure I'm sold on Jacobs just yet. He runs a little too upright for my liking.

can you make off season trades? For players, draft slots, other keeper slots?

Yeah, I'm about a minute away from taking the Westbrook trade.

I have to share a trade offer I just received. It just might be the worst I've ever seen...

Rudi Johnson, Thomas Jones and my #10 overall for his Torry Holt and #25 overall.

Umm. No.

I would take group 3, I love Westbrook, but I think Parker will have a better year and score more TDs. Westbrook was also banged up last year.

Once Andy Reid stopped calling plays and let Mornenweig do it, the Eagles had a much more balanced offense....that was when Westbrook blew up. Expect the same this year...at least somewhat less than the throw every down they used to have with McNabb. In a league where you get points for catches, Westbrook is easily a top 5 player.

pretty much a toss up last year under this scoring system. I really like both guys. Only reason I would say Parker is this:

Aug 7
News: Westbrook sat out of contact drills Monday with swelling in his knee, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Spin: It was originally reported Westbrook returned to practice Monday, but apparently it was in a limited capacity. He also sat out Sunday's workout dealing with the ailment. Westbrook was able to fight through knee problems last year, but the fact it's already swelling up can be construed as only bad news. The injury is not considered serious, but it does highlight the inherent risk that comes with drafting Westbrook. Correll Buckhalter also missed practice Monday with a bruised knee, while rookie Tony Hunt continues to impress with his hard-nosed running style.

Westbrook has missed 9 games (at least 2 in each season if you count only 1 carry in a game last year due to injury) the last 3 years.

I just took Westbrook #10 overall in my league and was estastic that some dingleberry took Henry right before me and let BW slip. Also a PPR league.

He's a beast with PPR - top 4 talent IMO.

Is this for the Rx League Dante just set up? :icon_conf

No, this is for a keeper league I've been in the past six years or so.

I was having a look at Westbrook's numbers last year, and noticed that they improved AFTER McNabb went down.

That has to hurt him for this year, no?

Those #s coincide with Andy Reid giving up play calling duty to Marty Mornenweig who started to go with a more balanced offense compared to Reid's pass almost every down philosophy. Marty will be calling plays again this year and I'd expect to see the balanced offense again...especially after Westbrook showed he can handle the rushing load and come up with big plays if you feed him the ball enough.

And even when McNabb was there...Westbrook was his top recieving target...and since you're in a PPR you shouldn't see that much of a drop off. What you lose in rush yards from getting a handoff, you'll make up in reception and rec yard points.

LJ is clearly the best of the bunch, but Jacobs makes it a difficult group to choose. How many RBs do you start? If only 2 with no flex position, then it may be worth to take Rudi and LJ. Aside from LJ though, Fast Willie is the best keeper and I think he will put up better numbers than BW this year, but you can't go wrong with either one. Also, it's hard to say what effect Big Ben being healthy all year will have on FW's numbers. Will they be airing it out more?
