Yeash Pads suck! Its hot in St.louis there players are more adjusted to the hot humid weather. But other than that Pads should bounce back w/ Young on the mound!

Any good reason? Betting on someone coming off the DL is always a gamble, although Chris Young has been more reliable than ever. padres sticks very well could be ice cold. That being said, I was just trying to find reasons "not to" hammer them.

Good luck to whoever you play.

Joel Pinero is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA. These numbers are not that telling as he has only had 5 innings of work in the bigs this year. He did however let up 5 runs 4 earned in that time. Obviously the padres bats have been hit or miss, but if Young is close to what he was, we may not need much in the form of offense to win.

Uh, what are you talking about? He's only pitched five innings with ST. LOUIS this year.

He was previously on Boston as a reliever...34 IP, 5.03 ERA, 20 Ks, 14 BB.

Yah Piniero has been in the pros for a long while now. If you dont know that you probably shouldnt be betting, much less hammering this game.

I should have figured he was traded since he had no minor league stats with the cards organization to speak of. Thanks for the info. I get two things out of that, 1st that his previous start is rather telling of what to expect out of him. 2nd- the fact that he was a reliever makes me love this play even more. There is more to starting than the average baseball fan realizes. Most pen guys don't make a good starter and many starters suck as relievers, hence the reason they have a specific role. I really like the Padres more than before. Thanks for correcting me even if you were being condescending.

again your reasoning is flawed. he was a starter his whole career with the mariners up until now. There was more to his career than this year than the average fan realizes. and i wasnt being condescending, i wasnt trying to show you up in any way. it was more like you should know what the hell is going on before you back it with your money.

Where can you find career stats like that, i just looked at MLB.com and didnt see that. And i wasnt calling you out about being an "average fan" since you seem to have taken offense to that, i was simply stating a point, although my facts were off.

Save it guy. My main reason for liking the game was Young going against the Cards. I will be the first to admit i am not a follower of Joel Pinero's career...my bad. Hope you feel cool for calling me out now, at least the other guys brought something to the table.

like someone else said already young is coming off the DL today the "weak" cards beat him once this year. i know that has nothing to do with this game but imo its the cards or nothing. if young only goes 5 and pinero goes 5 which pen do you like to get the job done?
