Let's start with this:

1.19 ERA? Lockdown pitcher.

Over the last 10 games the Braves are averaging 7.6 runs compared to Mets' 5.5. Today the Mets will not have Beltran or Valentin due to DL.

Here's the BIG ONE: Maine has given up 14 homers compared to Hudson's FOUR, and they have pitched almost the same number of innings this year! If the long-ball comes this afternoon, who do you think it's going to be against, and how many runs will it bring?

Braves are hitting righties this year at .281 compared to Mets at .263.

Braves want this series (today is rubber game) so they can keep pace and keep the season meaningful. They're desperate and the Mets aren't.

To my knowledge, another plus is that Hudson is UNDEFEATED after the Braves lose the night/game before.

He is rock solid.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets (12:10 PM ET)

* Atlanta starter Tim Hudson is a solid 5-1 with a 2.77 ERA in 11 road starts this season. The Braves have won his last four starts away from Turner Field, as the offense has provided a remarkable 35 runs of support. EDGE: BRAVES
* Hudson has pitched well at Shea Stadium in his career, going 4-1 with a 2.80 ERA in five starts. The right-hander led the Braves to a 7-3 road victory over the Mets on April 20, tossing eight shutout innings and scattering five hits. EDGE: BRAVES
* New York’s John Maine has a 5-4 record and 3.26 ERA in 11 home starts in 2007. The Mets have tallied back-to-back victories at Shea Stadium with Maine on the hill, as the right-hander has allowed just two runs and six hits in his last 12 home innings. EDGE: METS
* Maine has been impressive at times during six daytime starts, going 3-1 with a 3.62 ERA. He’s surrendered just 3 hits and three home runs in 32 1/3 innings. EDGE: METS
* The Mets are 12-1 in Maine’s last 14 starts versus the NL East.

I felt like the lineup positioned them to win last night - only problem, the BP gave it back. The same BP that pitched lights out for 12 the night before. They still have one in their BP I think they should weed out.

I'd be surprised today if Hudson doens't go into the 8th.

GO BRAVES!

One of my FEW winners on Thursday. If not for Atl & Dbacks it would have been very bad.

Thanks.
