Need computer help ... looking for a cheap laptop !

My Toshiba laptop died on me, looks like it needs a harddrive replacement, I don't want put any more money in it.

I'm without a working computer at the moment, posting from a friend's computer.

Anybody have any current deals for a laptop ? I think I want to go cheap this time (like $500 or so), since they don't last long.

i got a inspiron e1505 from dell. i'm very happy with it, cost me about $700, but i'm sure there are even cheaper ones.

The repacement drive is just $50 online.

If you want to buy a cheap laptop buy HP, Averatec, Asus, do not buy Toshiba, Acer, Gateway.

They're cheap, but they're junk.

Cheap is a relative term. You can get a boat anchor of a laptop for probably $300.

shouldn"t be hard to find a laptop these days for 5 or 6 bucks,,,,,, if you could wait there is this thing called BLACK FRIDAY day after thanksgiving ,,,,,,,,,,,,, EVER HEAR OF IT !!!

my toshiba just died last week, same problem. I noticed it ran cooler than the new hp does, maybe that is why it lasted so long.
Unless you can avoid vista, the problem is vista will take up almost all of your memory and make the machine run very slow.
So you will want at least a 1g RAM and 120 g hard drive. I checked everywhere and best buy /circuit city were unbeatable..

are you a child that lives in Africa? these can be had for $100 - I read an article that these kids can even view porn on them but not sure about the Nigerian email scams
