"The last home run ball , is the one that will be worth the most"...Barry Bonds

#1-For Bonds, that still gives him plenty of time to accumulate the 17 RBIs he needs to become only the third player in the modern era behind Aaron and Babe Ruth to reach the 2,000 plateau in that category. Aaron leads with 2,297 and seems to be out of reach.

#2-Bonds, who already has said multiple times he intends to play next season, should pass the 3,000-hit mark in 2008. But he would probably need to continue on into 2009 if he has any chance of catching Mays in that department. He's only had 186 hits since 2004, including 12 in 14 games at the end of his injury-riddled 2005 season that included three surgeries on his right knee.

#3-756 doesn't exist anymore. That ball's worth what it is. The last home run ball is worth the real money. The people need to keep coming out to see it. Because I swear I'll go run out there and catch it myself."

800 , it will be real tough IMO, but if you listen to Barry he might play past next year even...American League is in his future....and for those who just want him to go away??? forgettaboutit!

I think he'll settle in around 763-767 after this season....leaving him 33-37 away from the 800 mark....He would more than likely have to come back in 2009 to get to 800...If he were moved into a juicy AL lineup with some protection he could get there next year....

Would a team like NY want Bonds? Maybe the Angels?

Giants are going to have to take a stand and let Bonds finally walk...he has value still but not with the Giants....unless they just want to be an exhibition team til Barry decides he's reached enough milestones.

BTW-A-Rod is no guaarantee to reach 800 HR. anything could happen, see Ken Griffey Jr.

It would be tough to reunite in Detroit with Leyland because Sheff needs to DH a majority of the time, as will Bonds. In that spacious OF the Tigers Defense would suffer pretty badly having one of them manning a corner OF spot on an everyday basis.

Reasonable goals. 800 being the toughest. However, Bonds no longer feels the pressure of chasing Hank and can free wheel. This will either result in bad mechanics leading to more outs or further relaxation as he showed with 757. Will he be motivated to get into shape next year in the same manner as this year? Perhaps.

As for where Bonds may play next year, the majority owner, who is not Peter Magowen, has always loved Bonds and Barry has a gleam in his eye when asked the question whether or not he will be a Giant next year. I believe he thinks he will and if you think about it, he is still the best player they have in the line-up, so if he will settle for a reasonable price, it wouldn't surprise me to see him back as a Giant.

As for A-Rod, agree that injuries could make a difference just like Griffey. Also, opponents don't seem to fear A-Rod as they pitch to him. Bonds is still the most feared hitter in baseball as he is 1st by a wide margin in walks with over 2500. He has only 400 less walks then hits. Just think if he was pitched to as A-Rod is. I'd like to see how A-Rod would deal with the number of intentional walks that Bonds has been given. I think he'd lose his stroke. Time will tell.

If he plays next year, it'll be more like DHing for Tampa Bay. All the contenders don't want him and don't need him.
