as some of you have noticed, i've been having a good run at things lately. i think that i'm just capping smarter these days. anyhow, here goes my friday picks. originally i liked 6 or 7 games and cut them down to 4. best of luck to all as always.
orioles - bedard has been a man on a mission lately. the orioles have won in all of his last 9 starts and bedard has been pitching lights out in those games. red sox are one of the best teams in the bigs, throwing dice-k today. matsuzaka has pitched decently in his last 4 starts, but has shown that he is hittable. a confident orioles team with thier ace on the mound on "win day" should produce enough runs to beat the sox. also, i believe the orioles are fuming after getting swept at home by the mariners.
indians - i'll take the better pitchers in this game. as hot as the yankees has been, good pitching silences good hitting. the indians haven't been scoring many runs lately, but they've also been on the road. indians are dominant at home and average on the road. this game will have a playoff atmosphere tonight and the tribe fans will be charged up for a big game. look for carmona to pitch well and give up 2 or 3 runs and hughes to give up 7 or 8 runs.
yankees/indians over - carmona has gone under last 3 starts. he hasn't gotten any run support of any kind. but it seems that when these two teams get together, the over is the play. i believe they have gone over the total in their last 6 meetings and 7 of 8. i don't think hughes will fare well tonight and give up the bulk of the runs and carmona just a few.
dodgers - penny on the mound and its "win day" for the dodgers. cardinals throw their current staff ace in wainwright who has an era close to 5 at home. penny has been stellar on the road posting a 7-1 record with a 2.88 era. for the price, you can't go wrong.
