***I will move this post to health and Fitness once I get a few replies***

I pulled my lower back about 10 days ago, and the pain is unbelievable, I am walking around like a hunchback still 10 days later. My dad has the same prob lem with his back. Every now and again I go through this if it is pulled.

This time is worse than ever after 10 days already, to compound the problem I have about 20 extra pounds I am carrying right in my gut.
:puppy:

Anyone have any ideas?

chiropracters? Physio therapy? drugs? hot tub? massage?

Im in agony.

All of the above...chriopractor first, s/he should be able to tell you the best course of action. I have serious back problems in my family too, and regular exercise and stretching is the BEST and ONLY way to keep it from being a long-term, chronic problem.

Yoga has been a lifesaver for me. Give it a shot.

about ten months ago i was bending over to tie my shoes like i had done a million times before .

something happened in my lower back , basically the area right above my tail bone . i went down on the ground.

couldnt get up for 5 minutes.

after laying around for 3 days , i started taking a large towel that rolled like i was going to snap someone in the ass . i threw the towel around my feet while laying on my bed.

i then pulled my feet up as high as i could stretching my lower back. i could feel it open up . after a few hundred times of doing that and taking motrin , my back started to feel better.

start stretching.... and even after it feels better , keep stretching.. every day....

I know this isn't the answer you want right now SS , in the future wear a welt belt anytime you lift anything...In my gym I can't believe how few people wear a welt belt anymore.

Savant:

I have the same problem which began in 1989 and every once in awhile my lower back will spasm and I'll be walking around like a crab for a couple of weeks.

The first thing you must find out is if the back problem is skeletal or muscular. An X-ray and/or MRI can determine the extent of the injury. Then steps can be taken. If it is muscular, learning daily back stretching exercises and getting physical therapy through your health care, if available to you, will be enough to properly manage the problem. If skeletal, it depends on the nature of the injury to determine the approach.

Don't even consider a chiropractor until you have received information from you physician as to the nature of the problem. One thing you can do is place a heating pad on your lower back since it has been 10 days since this started. It will provide temporary relief and greater movement.

I am sorry to hear of your pain; i have had a horrible back muscle pull before as well, which affected me for days and days (into a few weeks) if you are able to take motrin (ibuprofen, advil) i highly advise that. if you can tolerate the doses, a prescript strength would be 3-4 OTC pills. it is OK to take usually for a short period of time. try this if u can. rest and heat and meds.

same thing happened to my brother about a week ago. he went to the chiropractor not long after, and hes doing much better now, he said the chiro adjusted his spine, as it was a little out of place. and recommended some xrays just to make sure there was no further damage. health insuranced covered all the costs also.

on a side note...what do you think about luke richardson?

I would suggest going to the doctor just to make sure it's not a slipped disc or something.
