I'll preface this by saying I could not stand Vince Young in college. I thought he was going to be one of the biggest busts ever in the NFL because his passing accuracy is attrocious and I figured eventually he wouldn't be able to run himself and his team out of trouble as much as he did in college.

I still think he will never be a great quarterback, I even think Tennessee will be worse this year than last, and his QB rating will be at or near the bottom of the NFL.

But I heard an interview with this guy and I would absolutely love to have him as a teammate. He spoke intelligently about football, he praised his teammates and the organization, and you could just tell the guy is not only a leader, but he's dead serious about being the best that HE can be. It's hard to not like a guy that gives 110%.

I hope he does well and proves me wrong.

WC...I think he's going to be alright. I pretty much felt the same way about him after he left college. I didn't really think he had the mental makeup to make it in the NFL. But he still has great football instincts and he looked pretty sharp last year. He was doing the same thing to NFL defenses that he did in college. Which kind of surprised me. Tennessee may be down a bit this year, but Fisher is a decent coach, and as long as Young stays out of trouble and stays focused I think the Titans will eventually be back on top again.

titans made a good run in the second half of the season last year because of young. the best was the 4th quarter comeback against the giants after being down 21-0.

If you watched young you can see he will never be a pure passer in the Nfl and will never be a top tier qb. He can make plays with his speed and athletic ablilty but that will only take him so far. The titans will suck this year just as they did last year. It will be some time to come before the Titans evan sniff the top of the afc south let alone anything else. lol

Who cares if he isn't a pure passer. And why will his speed and athletic ability only take him so far? Speed and athletic ability are exactly the two things that you need to suceed in the NFL. His speed and athletic ability are why the Titans did as well as they did last season. I can think of at least 4 games where they would have lost if Young hadn't singlehandedly brought them from behind. I'll take a winner over a pure passer any day. His low pass rating, which is natural for most rookies in the NFL, may have something to do with his now holding the alltime record for rushing for an NFL rookie QB. But his speed and athletic ability will only take him so far..LOL

I dunno GS, they were saying the same thing about Michael Vick, and he was pretty close to getting Atlanta to a superbowl. Now it's almost like the guy was an afterthought, like Atlanta is better off without him as the QB.

VY also has fresh legs. McNabb could move pretty good too when he came into the league but he's slowly evolved into a passer. In the end VY is going to have to become a better passer because not only is he going to slow down (the hits will eventually wear on him), but a passing offense is an integral part of an NFL offense. How many QB's have won a superbowl with his style? Steve Young could run, but he could pass too.

He's going to win a lot of battles, but it's going to cost them too. There are no Ting brothers playing in the NFL.

And there are no BOZOs coaching defense to let him run out of the shotgun on every down with no threat of the forward pass.

I think his passing numbers are going to improve. They could improve in leaps and bounds if Norm Chow stays with the Titans for the next couple of years. I know much is going to depend on if he stays healthy. The big reason why Michael Vick hasn't had the success he should is because he's not a very durable QB, and he's suffered a lot of prolonged injuries in his career. I also don't think he compares that well with VY because although he's elusive, Vick isn't the large physical specimen like Young... Once the game starts slowing down for him, I think VY will be able to make better defensive reads. From what I'm hearing he's been a serious student of the game. Which makes me think things will eventually come around. If this guy stays healthy and becomes a big pass threat, he'll be the most dangerous QB to ever play the game because of his ability to take off and run. And he's so slippery. I never saw anybody get a solid hit on him when he was at Texas. And I've seen very few plays where he's taken a flush hit in the NFL. I would like to see what VY could do with a good supporting cast around him. If you put a young pro bowl type of RB in the backfield with him, and give him one or two great receivers, it would make his job a lot easier. And I'm betting his passing numbers would also go way up.

Allrighty then, lets make a bartab bet on the next five years of his career. I'll bet the Titans with VY under center won't have a 12 win season, won't make it to an AFC championship game, and VY's completion percentage will not exceed 60%.

Loser pays at Rx Bash 2012 (watch the Titans go 12-4 this year and win the superbowl)

WC & Sooner You 2 Are Among The Best @ RX

I do think Young has a CHANCE to surpass Vick. Mainly because of his character & Vick`s lack of same. Sooner old pal Vick`s main problem was not durability, it was FUCKING STUPIDITY. The guy is a moron. Listening to the 2 of them talk, Young is far more impressive. You can barely understand anything Vick manages to slur out. I also agree VY size will help. When you mention athletic QB`s & durability you have to include Daunte. Not long now guys, wish I could be out there this wk.
