"Hello all, I am not revealing my screen name here as I am really emabarassed about this, and would certainly get a severe reaming from most of you, but I am here to warn all of you. On Friday afternoon I was contacted through AIM from a guy who said he was "#@&^*" (I don't want to reveal his name but he is known by 99% of the regular Rx Posters).

Anyway, he said he was trying to get some money on Fultilt for the ftops and was having a lot of trouble with his bank card. He asked if I could transfer some money to fultilt for him if he transferred to my Paypal first. I told him I would rather not deal with Paypal, and he said he had a friend who lived about 15 minutes from where I live and that person could swing by my house and drop off cash.

Since he seemed like he was the same guy from the Rx, and he offered to pay cash up front, I told him to just drop me a check in the mail and I would transfer the money (Since I really didn't want someone I didn't personally know coming to my house). He said he would send it "express mail" and that I should have it on Saturday, or Monday at the very latest.

About 5 minutes later I got another instant message from a guy claiming to be another well known Rx poster (Keep in mind these guys used actual names, not just "hey I am a well known Rxer") He wanted me to send him some on Pokerstars and claimed to be the guy who could bring me the cash.

I did some checking on the account at Stars and saw the guy had been a regular player there for quite a while and would probably not want to risk his status there by trying to scam someone out of a few hundred bucks. Once again I said just drop a check in the mail and I will transfer the money. It is now Tuesday and I still have no checks in the mail.

Update #1, I have been in contact with Fultilt and Pokerstars all day regarding this. Unfortunately the guy on Fulltilt already blew the money and I am out of luck there.
As far as pokerstars is concerned I may have caught a break there. They froze the guys account and the guy contacted me saying he didn't know who I was or why I had transferred any money to his account. The guy instant messaging me was someone whom I had never been in contact with before, so there is probably some level of truth to this guy, we'll see.

He agreed to send the money back to me but that he had transferred some out of his account and that it would take a couple days to get all of the money back to me. I'll certainly let everyone know how this goes. I was also able to figure out who this guy was at Pocketfives and they have threatened to permanently ban him from their site unless he sends my money back.

I know I am extremely dumb for all this and once this gets posted I really don't need to hear how stupid I am from anyone here. I know how stupid I am. I know I couldn't be any dumber. And don't worry about this happening again, I wouldn't transfer to my wife right now unless she transferred first.

I am writing this in hopes that all of you keep a lookout for this type or any other type of scam and TRUST NOBODY. I am telling you, these guys had done a little bit of homework and came off as looking very freakin legit.

I used to laugh at people who could be this dumb, now I know how they feel. The screen name to the guy at Fultilt was "AG3N7".

I am going to wait and see if I get my money before I post the guys screen name on Pokerstars.

Good luck and I hope my story helps each of you to remeber to TRUST NOBODY.

I also want to thank Wilheim and TTinco for their help today, they have been very supportive".

I want to get back to this thread after 3 more days have passed to see if the guys sent him the check via regular mail last week.

The sentence where he would have a friend drop off the money has to be bogus though. Be interesting where this leads

If xx7-0007 looks familiar you have got to do something about this. You are just begging to be found and there are people who do not mind doing a few simple searches for a profit.

UPDATE#2

The guy who promised to give me the money back on pokerstars IM'ed me again this afternoon and said that I need to give approval to pokerstars to unfreeze his account. At the exact same time, Pokerstars security called me and told me the guy was a complete scam artist. They told me that they had been watching this guy for quite some time and the problem was that they couldn't prove anything. Unfortunately for the scam artist, he used pertinent information in the conversation with me that I emailed to pokerstars. With that they were able to permanently ban the guy, and close his account. They said they had another scam complaint against the guy currently from another pokerstars member. The bad thing is that I won't be seeing that money again, but hopefully it delays him for a while in scamming someone else.

Also, the support staff at pocketfives looked the guy up and he was apparently using three different accounts. They have locked him out of all three. For those that want to know his handle/screen name its "MSHphenom". Beware of this person.
