Ryan Braun singled in the first inning and now has an 11-game hitting streak. Much has been made about the home run pace the rookie third baseman has set this season. He reached the 20-home run mark faster than any other first-year player other than Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols.
Braun has played in 44 fewer games than Pujols this season, yet many of his offensive numbers are close to, if not better than, Pujols' offensive statistics.
In 287 at-bats, Braun has a .348 average. In 415 at-bats, Pujols has a .313 average.
In 70 games, Braun has 22 home runs and 59 RBI. In 114 games Pujols has 24 home runs and 75 RBI.
And they both now have tape measure home runs against Brad Lidge.
