I was at work at a butcher shop when a lady came through the door........crying. I asked her, "What's the matter?" I thought she had been in an accident. She answered in an almost impossible voice to understand, "The King, the King, he's dead!" Some things you never forget where and what you were doing , Elvis' dying qualifies for me.

Are you aware that today is the 15th?

Well I cant remember that far back!

My most vivid memory was when the space shuttle went down around 20 years ago. 30 years ago is too much to ask for though

I was only 4, so I don't recall, but I do remember the day John Lennon died. I was on the floor in my parents dining room eating Milk Duds. I had never heard of John Lennon and thought Cosell misspoke or said Bob Lemon (who was the NYY Manager at the time) and couldn't understand why someone would kill Bob Lemon.

Or the two words.......ROBERTO CLEMENTE.....or maybe even DAVE PARKER.....:toast:
Those guys were great, as were Stargell and Sanguien and Alou but the O's were better, in my biased opinion. We (the O's) choked twice against the f'ing Buccos! And let's not mention the stupid Mets either!

The thing is, he was WASHED up by that point, a fat pig..

Had he died in 1970 or something then i could have seen it being much more significant.

After Aloha from Hawaii the guy was nothing more than a glofied lounge singer in Vegas.

And the fact everyone lied or denied his drug use till right before the end, he was a total mess, would have been more surprising had he lived 5 more years that way than the way it turned out.

You know, very few people know this, you're right of course. But, the whole death thing was staged and Elvis actually re-surfaced a year later with a new name.........................................................MEATLOAF!:dancefool :dancefool :dancefool :dancefool

Everytime I hear the name elvis...I think of Leary's comedy act...

(Denis Leary on Elvis)

Wouldn't it be nice to remember Elvis thin, with a big head of hair? Maybe that gold lame suit. Wouldn't that be nice? Because how do you remember Elvis? You know how you remember Elvis. He was found in the toilet with his pants around his ankles and his big fat hairy sweaty king of rock and roll ass exposed to the world and his final piece of kingly evidence floating in the toilet behind him! Creepy! One of his aids had to walk in and go, "Damn, Elvis is dead. I'd better flush the toilet. Oh man I should've saved that! I coulda made some money off of that! Damn man! A ding dang do!"
