Popular (to users) and notorious (to the RIAA) P2P app Limewire is now preparing a paid download store, Digital Music News reports this morning following a Tuesday announcement. The Limewire store (it seems odd to put those two words together), which will sell MP3s as well as offering a subscription plan, will be linked from its file-sharing program, and paid downloads will eventually live inside it. IRIS Distribution and Nettwerk Music Group have already licensed their content to the store. "We are delighted to collaborate with these forward-thinking music companies and sell their authorized content through Limewire," said Jesse Rubenfeld, CFO of parent company Lime Wire LLC. The store is expected to be launched very soon.

Congrats on the 3,600 post T.V.

But on the topic, I cant see them making any cash off of the change over. For one the market is way to satuated (Itunes, Napster, and Yahoo; etc) and second the brand itself isnt that great with its viruses and what not. Basically the users (including myself when I did use it) only put up with some of the recent shortcomings only because the files were free.
