Wow that would be incredible, to say the least.

I'm worried though, I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Lets hope so. I can't imagine being alive that long down there. That is definately a job I wouldn't do.

I've been loosely following this, and this site seems to have the best updates. It's nice to see that they finally got someone doing press conferences besides this Bob Murray asshole who had done nothing but make a fool out of himself.

My hopes are very high. I still haven't heard anything other than the oxygen levels in the mine being above 7%(not enough to live). Hopefully this report is more legitimate than the 20% oxygen report that later turned out to be a reading from the shaft that they were drilling. I wouldn't trust Murray as far as I could kick him. His #1 concern is his and his company's ass.

Noise Heard From Inside the Mine
August 15th, 2007 @ 7:15pm

<!-- ===================[ STORY BODY : RICH TEXT ]================= -->
Update:
There is still no word if the six trapped miners inside the Crandall Canyon mine for 10 days are alive.

At an evening press conference, Richard Stickler with the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration said geophones picked up a pattern of audio from inside the mine. It happened this morning around 10:00 and lasted about five minutes. Crews have analyzed the noise, but they can't confirm what the noise is or where it's coming from. Crews are going to drill a fourth hole where they heard the noise from the geophones.

Bob Murray, owner of Murray Energy Corporation said that at 9:00 p.m. they hope to have video out of hole number three and air readings at about 11:00 p.m.
Murray also said, "So there is every reason for hope. The families have that hope. I have never seen such courageous strong people in my life. They actually give me hope. And I just wish I could tell you that we've had them out by now."

Is he still saying this was caused by an earthquake? I saw on tv the other day where a geologist? seismologist? stated that there was no earthquake activity near the mine.

Texas, last I heard a team of earthquake experts confirmed what the local experts had said-and that's that there was no earthquake besides the one caused by the collapse.

It seems like someone finally told him to STFU.

There's plenty of water stored in various places throughout the mine-if they can find it.

From what I have seen from the video camera there is plenty of water for them. Of course, that's if they are anywhere near the camera. But your right, after 5 days or so you will die without water.

This Murray guy is a GRADE A ASSHOLE! He says he will prove that it was an earthquake that caused this problem. Like the above post stated he is only out to save his ass and his companies ass. The majority of these mine owners are crooks and dont give a shit about any of these guys who go down into these mines.

It will take nothing short of a miracle if any of these guys are found alive. Yes, there is always hope, but 10 days down there is an awfully long time to survive. Stranger things have happen. Just pray another fiasco doesnt take place like the one in that hick state of West Virginia where the families were somehow led to believe that all the miners had survived that tragedy only to learn a short time later that only 1 survived and the rest had died.

i couldnt imagine being stuck in a place the size of a limo with a ceiling only a few feet above my head.

and what about light ? have they probably been in pitch black conditions all day every day for 8 or 9 days now ?

During that crazy Northeastern power outage a few years ago, I got stuck in my elevator for an hour and a half. Cried like an infant the whole time. Can't even imagine what these guys are stuck in.

As for light, they said they had lights on their hardhats, but that each one would provide a few hours worth. If the men are altogether, they could use one light at a time and be okay for a few days. For sure they've been in complete darkness for most of this, tho.
