Currently available at Intertops: Cards +2800 to win the NL.

Why not? Someone has to. Cards got hot at the right time last yr. Healthy Eckstein, Duncan, Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds would present as good a lineup as any should they reach the playoffs. Definitely worth a few bones at 28:1

I don't think anyone would be floored if the Cards made a return trip to the World Series..

It's pretty obvious the NL is completely up for grabs. Someone asked me recently who the best team in the NL was and I couldn't answer them.

maybe its 28-1 because however improbable and unlikely it was last year

its more than double the odds of pulling that off 2 years in a row in a similar situation

10-1 is a joke. 28-1 is a gift that won't stay up very long.

cant picture the mets not winning. a good lineup that is playing below potential but more importantly a solid starting rotation and even better bull pen and good coaches

I think of all the NL teams, the most value is still on the Braves. I took them at 28 to 1 to win the WS as soon as they signed Tex. One of the better lineups in the game (imagine if Andrew starts hitting), 2 great starting pitchers, and what appears to be an improving bullpen (Wickman is scary). It is down to +1650 now, but i still feel that is pretty good value.

Three words

NL EAST
NL CENTRAL
NL WEST

Anything can happen in this mediocre league (see last yr)...I would rank Arizona as the best team over there right now....the Braves have to be considered a live dog with the potential firepower they have now....getting Renteria back and Jones healthy should get them in the WC at the very least.

The NL West is just a snooze fest as usual
The Central, the Cubs are still the team to beat but injuries may kill their chances.
The East, you get the feeling the Mets are on cruise control , doing just enough to keep that slight 3 game lead.

The National League is really poor right now.

I thought Kip was their ace? no wait, Wainright?... Maybe Reyes 2-12...nah, gotta be Looper he's atleast over .500 , Rick Ankeil couldn't fair much worse.

:nopityA:
Yeah, too bad it's a team sport. The mediocrity of the pitching staff does nothing but make the Cardinals even more lovable to their fans and to the rest of the country that appreciates heart and team. The underdog with a lot of fight.

God the NL is bad...BUT, when it comes down to a best of 7, like last year, anyone can win if they get there...

Is Mulder due back at all this year??

He's making a rehab start tomorrow in the Florida State League Class A, I believe.

I don't think there's value in 15 to 1 for the pennant. I'm figuring the Cards to be a 2-to-1 dog to win the division, with the wild card pretty much out-of-the-question. Because of weaker STARTING pitching, the Cards will be a dog in a series against the Mets, Padres, Braves and probably any other team that might make it in. You'll probably come out better by parlaying the series prices with the division win. At best, you're getting a break even (and that's if everything goes well with the playoff matchups), IMO.

wow, Cards AT Cubs for 4 straight, HUGE series...

Cubs will have rediculous lines most likely as the matchups on paper for the Starting Pitchers LOOKS like its all Cubs, but this should be very close, to add to it, the Cards are HOT and the Cubs, despite today's win, are ICE COLD..

What team are you a fan of? I guess it wouldn't matter, as you've already proven you will bet against your team in a NCAA tourney game, nullifying your status as a fan of any team.

Not sure I agree on that. I place my bets based on what my models / line shopping etc says, but it doesn't stop me cheering against the bet when at the game.
