[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]Buchholz is 8-3 with a 2.15 ERA in 22 appearances this season between Pawtucket and Double-A Portland, is lined up perfectly for the start after striking out nine in five innings in an International League victory Sunday at Syracuse. The righty hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a Triple-A outing and has held left-handed hitters to a .182 batting average in the IL. The Angels have never seen him and Boston is 38-21 at home.

Thoughts on the game ?

FWIW ..............
Angels are 1-9 in Lackey's last 10 starts vs. Red Sox.

Everyone was saying the same thing when Lincecum made his first start for the Giants against the Phillies. No matter how good he was in the minors he now will be facing major league hitters. Just be careful. At -117 I like LAA.

pool -- would you be able to explain clippards first start against the mets?

more often than not, when a decent/good pitching prospect comes up teams will struggle in their first outing against him because of a lack of tape and lack of prep.

good luck

IMO / gimme the home team @ 38-21 record with the rook ......
Also sox are a bit more rested the the angles... Angels to play at least 27 innings in about 27 hours, flying from Toronto to Boston after Thursday night's series finale with the Blue Jays.

Not sure if I'm playing this one, but Buchholz is the real deal. Who knows how he'll do in his first start considering he has a tough challenge in the LAA lineup, but they're not nearly as good on the road, and the Sox have hit Lackey in the past.
