Let's end the confusion and hand-wringing. Here are the facts:

The Angels are 10-1 in Lackey's last 11 ROAD starts...ROAD folks. I don't give a damn how bad they've been on the road, Lackey makes them a different team.

More Lackey:

The rook is making his first start -ever- in hallowed Fenway. That's enough to make most pitchers jittery. Add in the fact that he is facing an All-Star and a line-up that could murder any team on any night. (BTW, the Angles are outscoring Red Sox over the last 10 games).

Angels are 7-3 over the last 10, and they want to make a late-season statement against the Sox in prep for the playoffs.

The Red Sox lost to Sonnanstine of the Devil Rays (!!!) just a few nights ago. They are not ready for the Angels train and Lackey.

Oh sorry, I left out the MONEY STAT: bullpens over the last ten games....Angels are 1.08 (!!) while the Sox are 5.33. When Lackey and the rook leave the game, the pain won't end for the Sox tonight.

The rook is unpredictable and the Angels have a great pen lately. Let's see what happens....

Angels appeared to a soild play prior to the game starting, and in their half of the 1st inning...then Boston got to bat and that's that.

I dont understand the joke. Santana is scheduled to pitch game 2, so i wasnt sure if he ended up starting game 1 instead.
