I think he is Washed up...Not worth it....But Would you take him on Your Team ??
The New England Patriots re-signed veteran quarterback Vinny Testaverde on Saturday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 43-year-old is entering his 21st NFL season and has played in 226 games, starting 208 since entering the league in 1987. He ranks in the top 10 in NFL history in four major passing categories, including sixth in both passing yards (45,281) and completions (3,693). His 270 career touchdown passes rank eighth, and his 6,529 attempts are seventh best.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound quarterback has spent time with Tampa Bay (1987-1992), Cleveland (1993-95), Baltimore (1993-97), the New York Jets (1998-2003, 2005), Dallas (2004) and New England (2006).
Testaverde signed with the Patriots last November and was used sparingly in the 2006 campaign behind starter Tom Brady, appearing in three regular season games. He threw a touchdown pass to Troy Brown against Tennessee on December 31, extending his NFL-record streak of seasons with a touchdown pass to 20.
Testaverde was originally selected by Tampa Bay with the first overall pick in 1987 out of the University of Miami, where he captured the 1986 Heisman Trophy. He spent six seasons with the Buccaneers and owns the club's career passing records with 2,160 attempts, 1,126 completions, 14,820 yards and 77 touchdowns.
Other numbers for his lengthy career include 261 interceptions and a 75.2 passer rating. He has also recorded 421 career rushes for 1,639 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Patriots on Saturday also released veteran defensive back Artrell Hawkins, second-year cornerback Gemara Williams and rookie linebacker Kyle Bissinger.
