Toronto -155:

Oakland will face the Toronto Blue Jays today with Mark Kotsay, Eric Chavez, Bobby Crosby, Chris Snelling and Chris Denorfia on the DL.
Marcum is the fifth best money pitcher in the AL, bringing in 7.32 units this season. Toronto is 12-6 in his 18 starts this year.
The Blue Jays are 39-24 at home.
Since the break, Marcum is a stellar 6-1, including victories his last five starts in which he has a 2.14 ERA
TOR are 19-7 in their last 26 home games.
Both blanton starts @ tor were A's losses. Gave up 7 ERs in '06 game and 3 ERs in '05 game.

Under 8.5 -115:

Under is 9-3 in Blanton's last 12 starts overall.
Other 4 blanton home starts vs tor were games he allowed 2 ERs or less
Under is 27-6 in TOR last 33 overall.
Marcum only start vs A's he gave up 2 ERs in 4.2 innings.
Over is 13-4 in the last 17 meetings in Toronto.

Under has won the last 10 times in a row for Toronto games. I would play it until it loses.

Leaning towards the under. 5 out of the 6 starts blanton has pitched vs blue jays have been 3 ERs or less. Marcum is in great form right now. If they can go 6-7 innings this should go under.

Jays bullpen has been lights out of late too. I forgot the number but their last 10 was very impressive, want to say ERA under 1 but I can't remember for sure. It was very low, I know that. Under is a strong play here IMO, very strong. Like the side too for that matter.

Shaun Marcum has taken a shut out into the 7th inning 7 times in 18 starts.

Beware of the cover's curse. Sean Marcum is the lead story on covers main page which usually spells disaster. Mark my words. The over is the play. This is a write-up on Sherwood's web-site.

TORONTO/Oakland over 8½ +1.11
Only now is Shaun Marcum getting the credit he deserves after pitching under the radar for the better part of the last three months. His numbers are strong and he’s been downright dominating over his last three starts. However, at the Rogers Center his numbers aren’t so great and because of all the recognition Marcum has received recently we get a very beatable total here. In fact, at home Marcum has allowed 14 jacks in just 59 innings of work to go along with an ERA of 4.12. The Jays have been very strong at home all year long and there’s no reason they can’t put up a bunch against Joe Blanton. Blanton has been hit hard in six of his last eight starts and in fact, he allowed 10 hits or more in four straight games from July 8- July 25. His road ERA is 5.49 with the opposition hitting .295 off him. This is a small total in a hitter’s park and one I trust we can take advantage of. Play: Toronto/Oakland over 8½ +1.11 (Risking 2 units).

They both should cash, Toronto + Under. But you never know in this wacky game. Marcum has been lights out of late and Blanton has been a little up and down of late but certainly is a quality pitcher. The Jays is the safest play. GL!

Thought it still had a chance during bottom of 8th if he could have got thomas out. Glad to see red sox game go under at least.
