OT-Do we have any rights left in this country?

I just heard an incredible story from a friend of mine. This is mindblowing to say the least. Get a load of this bullshit

He & his girlfriend blow out of Denver last Friday morning headed to a lake in western Neb(awesome place-beaches like Cancun this late in the year).

They get pulled over by the Colorado State Patrol for a crack in his windshield around noon . One thing leads to another, and the cop is convinced that he's "on something". They bring in a breathalyzer, he blows double zeros. So they start ransacking the car-find nothing. Then they start checking him for needle marks & eventually tell him that his pulse is elevated and that they KNOW that he's "on something".

He gets cuffed & hauled to the cop shop for 2 hours of various tests, including a piss test that is eventually going to come back clean. The whole time, he has apparently been laughing & telling them that this whole thing was beyond stupid.

After holding him for TWELVE HOURS, he leaves with a ticket for DUID(Driving under the influence of drugs) and another for driving with an obstructed view(the single crack in the windshield). At some point, the cop told him that the tests don't matter, he'll just tell the court what he observed.

Being someone who is usually somewhat hot headed(and not exactly a cop fan to begin with), I still don't know how he went along with this shit without getting himself into some real trouble.

So he has to show up in this cowtown in a month to face the charges. My suggestion was to go straight to the ACLU & shove it up these pricks asses.

Unbelievable. Better him than me-no way I would have kept my mouth shut getting jobbed like that.

didn't surprise me it was from colorado. lived in colorado springs for a year and the cops are fucking brutal about the most stupid shit. talked to a cop at southside johnny's bar once and he told me most cops there are rejects from cali who got their asses handed to them one way or another. that place is a complete judicial shithole!

Believe it...Lake McConaughy is really a very beautiful place. White sand beaches for miles. Don't tell anyone tho, there are enough Greens (Coloradans) there already.

I will also testify that Colorado cops are grade A pricks. I was jogging near the intersection of Quebec and County Line in suburban Denver about a week ago. I see two kids riding on one of those motorized skateboards - keep in mind they are on the sidewalk, not really going very fast, basically just minding their own business.

So an unmarked police car stops them at the intersection. I figure the cop is just going to tell them to watch out and be careful. The cop proceeds to park the car right on Quebec St.,, creating a huge traffic hazard in the process and, grabs his ticket book and writes the kids a ticket. All the while people are screaming at least 10 MPH over the speed limit on Quebec St. Just makes you shake your head.

Funny-I was just about to tell him the same thing about not telling anyone. We camp on the south shore & have miles of it to ourselves. I'll run around for 3 days barefoot-it's awesome.

(If sand texture is your only gauge, it's actually much nicer than Cancun)

Actually, I'd be tempted to take it to the newspaper and\or a tv station. The cops are being really aggressive due to their federal "the heat is on" grant, so they're doing everthing they can to build up some #'s.

If he doesn't go to the ACLU, he'll probably drop what, 2-3k just to make a bunch of bogus bullshit go away? F that.

This will be interesting, because hell will freeze over before he takes this without a fight(we both think that he'll show up in a month & they'll just go "no evidence, no charges filed", but it's already gone way to far.

Something is being left out of this story. Something had to happen for them to do all of this. And he is lying to you in some way. He told you the story from his point of view and there is always another side to the story... I would guess they were overly aggressive and I would guess he didn't handle it well and he provoked them more.
