Im sick of my job... I work in a zoo with no keepers... so I want out. I got a pretty solid resume that I have been working on for 6 months (adding and editing etc..). I was honorably discharged from the US Army back in March (have paper work) and I was wondering if a soldier holds security clearance after being discharged. I know I could call HRC in St Louis and find out, but Ill be on the phone for at least 3 hours... Putting security clearance on my resume would be fucking sweet, but Im just wondering if thats something you hold after your out.

thx

My daughter actually works in personnel in the Air Force, so i called her. She said you should put on your resume that you have had security clearance and are still eligible to be granted clearance. You dont have a clearance once out but being as you already did your employer would little or no trouble getting you cleared again where as someone off the street could take a few months even to get a clearance...the employer would be more likely to go with you then someone he may be wasting his time on..

I am in the air force now and have a top secret. I know that they are active for 5 years and then they re-up them. Not sure about your situation though

dude my buddy is an executive recruiter for the DOD.

They're tons of jobs that require clearence but not enough people to fill those jobs.

Do a search for employment with TSA, DOD...

oh btw when I was in you weren't allowed to acknowledge whether you had clearence or not unless it was NTK

now that you are out, you can list that you had it on your resume'... plus when you cleared out you should have been given paperwork that states what level of clearence you had, dates, ect... with your mos it sounds like u had basic level kinda stuff in order to talk on the radio and use secure equipment... THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO GET A GREAT JOB

good luck
