I believe in a burial at sea......like certain Native American Tribes. I don't think anybody likes visualizing their bodies being cremated JMan!

Seems ok to me, it is private property after all, been paid for and taxed over and over, personal choice that should be available to those who want to pay to remember a loved one.

I think even the cheaper caskets and plots are WAY WAY more expensive than cremation; from reading somewhere.

In Hong Kong they dig people back up after a few years.

Most people are cremated there nowadays.

The way I see it I'm dead...who cares...If there is an after life I'm in a better place (fingers Crossed) if no afterlife then I'm dead and my body still won't matter.

I want my body donated to science and if they won't take it donate me to some necrophiliacs, I just want to know I did some good after I'm gone.

I'd rather have my ashes spread over the Pacific Ocean then let the bugs eat my body.

On a secondary note, my parents are buried in Riverside National Cemetary as my father served in the Navy in WWII. Did you know that veterans are buried at a rate of 1 every 15 minutes 5 days a week at that cemetary alone? Think about all the national cemetaries and the number of burials per day. WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and current conflicts, veterans are dying at a record rate.

My friend, a WWII Navy Veteran, passed away two months ago and had to wait until next month to be buried at Arlington. He was 88 years old and served from 41 until the end of the war. Too many are passing on.

WW2 through Vietnam vets are old, old people die.

I don't find this shocking.

Of course. But unless you have seen the procession of burials at a national cemetary on a daily basis every 15 minutes and as CC said, having to wait over a month because of the back-up, it a shocking scene at the cemetary. California, as large a state as it is only has two available national cemetaries as all others are full. Can't help but wonder what it is like across the nation. BTW, Vietnam vets are only in their 50's and 60's.

People do die in their 60's.

People die at all ages. That's OK Doug. I think you missed the point I was presenting. 32 burials/day at one cemetary, 5 days a week times the number of national cemetaries with months of bodies backed up. I'm out.
