If you had a chance to book 5 RELIABLE older square bettors, would you?

Buddy of mine (bartender) works at a little "hometown" bar and some of the old timers that sit at the bar like to bet. They were mentioning to him that their local bookmaker retired and moved away, so he asked me if I knew anyone that would take these guys football plays. He says the are all $50-100 players who are reliable guys who lose more than they win every year.

I thought it over and told him I would call him back. I may keep these for myself and give the bartender a cut for collecting and paying.

What would you do? Any pointers?

I have looked into this in the past, holding 5-10 guys. My problem is this: I do not want to be tied to a phone all day. How would you go about handling this, can't imagine these older guys would want to bet online if I set up a pay per head site and answering service. Plus they probably dont bet enough for it to be worth it. Seems like some older guys may not feel comfortable betting online or calling an 800 number. Maybe hire someone to answer the phones? Who knows, probably not worth it.

Just throwing it out there for others suggestions on this. Just curious if anyone would keep these themselves. Told him I would get back to him in a few days.

What's the point? You'd make a couple K at the most. Doesn't seem worth the hassle to me.

I would take them for sure. Being that there are only 5 of them, and are older and experienced, you probably wouldnt be tied up all day on the phone. Figuring each one calls twice a day. Once for the 1st set of games and once for the 2nd set, then you are only taking 10 calls a day.

All day Saturday and a few hours Sunday. Also an hour or so Monday and Thursday nite.

That Saturday thing would be a killer it seems but your right it is only 5 of them.

Put them in an offshore office and get a 50-50 sheet or get a make-up sheet..lots of different options with a reputable book...you will never have to answer a phone...

Do it, just lay down the rules up front and let them know when they can call and when they cant and if messages are ok or not. What lines they are to use and so forth. Set up a settle up figure to use also and avoid the hassle of meeting for chump change.

If you do it, run it like a part time business........Which means, for one thing, investing in a cell phone and only answering it at certain times..........You won't stay at 5 clients.....they'll have friends who will want to play........plan on paying and collecting at the bar every week for awhile..........and most importantly, have the money to pay 'em when they beat you.........which they will from time to time.........but, at the end of the season, you'll own 'em.......and you'll never have to handicap again.....but, you'll Always have action (whether you want it or not).......

You should use these guys as a starter and ad more customers as you go along. These guys probably know some of the other books players and can send them to you. Very lucrative business i you have the bankroll.

find someone who is set up offshore. this way they can call 24/7 on an 800 #. you book the whole thing yourself. they don't need to know where they are calling.
