Looks like this Redskins/Ravens game has created an interesting predictament for the books. I don't know if all of the rules are the same for all of the books, but many of these rules are pretty easy. All straight bets are voided. Parlays are interesting. I'm not sure whether books revert or not. I'd imagine they just revert down.

But I've been playing teasers this preseason and have Cleveland and the over in these teasers, which are all but winners if the game finishes out. That's besides the point now. Anyway, what I find most interesting are the teaser rules. Are these consistent rules from book to book?

5Dimes reverts their teasers down to the next level. In the event that a teaser goes below the amount of teams required for a complete teaser, the option is there to the bettor to fill out their teaser with another team provided the game goes within 7 days of the remainder of the wagers' conclusions. (In other words, if you have a 2-team teaser and one part of it is "no-action," you have to fill the 2nd leg with something else within 7 days or the whole teaser becomes no-action.)

Now be careful with this because I had to contact 5Dimes to get their explanation of this and have to contact CS to fill out the teasers when that time comes. Check with your sportsbook if you fall into a similar situation and please report what the conclusion is. Like I said before, I can't help but wonder if all of the books stay consistent with this.

Just to be clear. I will now have to contact 5dimes and give them a 3rd piece of a teaser?

(Fictional numbers used in this post)

What sucks here the most is if you have, for example, a 5 team teaser that pays +200. If you have 4 ends of that right, it reverts to a 4-team teaser and you win, but the payoff is, we'll say +120. If you have a 10 pt 3 team teaser with one leg voided, you get the option to fill it or not fill it with another game.

There's something to be said about getting the payoff, but at the end of the day, your EV has to be MUCH higher if you were given the option to fill out that last end of the teaser regardless of whether it can revert or not.

Is it a 10-pt teaser or a 6, 6.5, 7 pt teaser? If it requires 3 teams, you have the option of whether to take a void or fill it. If it only requires two teams, you get the payoff on a 2-team teaser without an option.

from 5 dimes

If a two-team teaser has a tie and a loser, the teaser loses. You may have your account set up for "Vegas" teaser rules (a tie and a loser = a TIE). By choosing this option, the account will not be eligible for bonuses of any kind. Only teasers played AFTER choosing this option will apply for the "Vegas" rules. Not all accounts will be eligible for this rule change.

I just realized it is bogus if it is graded a push. This means anyone who bet this game with a 10 pt teaser had no chance vs the book. They won on all the people who lost one of the pieces, and still pushed on everyone else.

Hmm, they voided everything on mine as well. I'm going to contact CS again because this is most certainly NOT what their CS rep told me earlier.

My conversation with CS just now...

Lucy: Hello. How may I assist you today?
AFLGuru: Good evening Lucy
AFLGuru: I was speaking with Ernest earlier in regards to teaser wagers involving the "no action" game between the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens
Lucy: Good evening!
AFLGuru: he informed me that monster teasers where all other legs were winners would be eligible to be filled by another selection as long as it is within 7 days
Lucy: Correct
AFLGuru: yet, I look at my account and see that the wagers have already been graded as "cancelled"
Lucy: Just a moment please
AFLGuru: one particular example is ticket number xxxxxxxxxx-1 if you are looking for something specific
Lucy: Looking into it, be right nack...
Lucy: back sorry]
AFLGuru: :) ok
Lucy: on that ticket you have one week to fill in the PUSH spot with another selection
Lucy: so you'll basically have a 1 game teaser with 13 points
AFLGuru: and this is the case for all monster teasers, correct?
Lucy: correct
AFLGuru: ok, thanks for your help Lucy!

So basically if I'm reading this right, despite the fact that your wagers were already graded as pushes, keep all of your ticket numbers and you will be able to fill them all as long as the other legs were all winners so long as you do it within 7 days. Hope this helps everyone.
