it is absolutely amazing what a difference 2 years can make. the 05 team was so good, they ran thru the playoffs like no one in recent memory. this 07 team is so bad, they get down 1-0 and you know they are gonna lose.

the weird thing is...all the starters from the 05 team are still there, except garcia. crede and posednik are hurt but the loss of garcia, crede and pods does not turn a truley dominating team to this bag of shit. plus, the 05 team did not have thome.

i really am at a loss to explain it.

ESPN showed only about a half dozen teams have ever scored 10+ runs in every game of a four game series, and the Sox are the first to do so and outscore their opponent by 30+ plus runs since the turn of the century...1901, not 2001. Nice effort, Pale Hose. Would've liked to have heard the all those calls of the Boston home runs by Mr. You-can-put-it-on-the-board-YES!:toast: :103631605 :dancefool :nopityA:

No, the reality is the 2005 team played way over there heads. They weren't a great team. They had a great season. There is a big difference between the two.

Just like Seattle in 2001, they got all the clutch hits, did everything right and then fell of the face of the earth next year.

did you watch the post-season? 11-1 and the era was off the charts. not a great team?

disagree.

name another team that went 11-1 on a world series run...if you can, then tell me that was not a great team.

i think maybe the 1998 yankees.

Because you have hot stretch for 12 games does that make you an all-time team. The Cards won the WS last year, were they the best team in baseball? Seattle won 116 games and lost in the playoffs, so what does that make them, the greatest regular season team?

Its like Jeter has said along, the best team in baseball doesn't always win the WS, the hottest team at the right time wins.

White Sox have quit and it is ugly. DO not understand why the manager is not in deep trouble. Not all his fault buit come on. This team needs some help.

comparing the 05 white sox to the 06 cardinals is not a good comparison. the 05 white sox won 99 games and then mowed thru the post-season like no other in recent memory. they were not just "an average team on a hot streak". that team was on a mission.

the seattle team that won 116 games choked in the playoffs. the 05 sox were a great team that kicked it into another gear in the playoffs the way the yankees used to in the mid-late 90's.

how they turned into the sad sight we now see is puzzling.

This is spot on. That team played unbelievable, especially during the playoffs, but they were not a great team.

what is the definition of a great team then? how many regular season wins does it take? if you win 100 games, then win the world series, are you a great team? if you win 110 games and win the world series are you a great team? do you have to have over 100 wins, a cy young winner, an mvp and sweep the world series to be considered "great"?

i think winning 99 games in the toughest division in the league that year...and then going 11-1 in the post-season including a world series sweep qualifies but...that's just me.
