The Anaheim Angles visit Seattle for a three game series with the Mariners starting with John Lackey (15-8) facing Miguel Batista (13-9) on Monday night. Then Erwin Santana (5-11) vs. Jeff Weaver (6-10) on Tuesday night and the finale is Wednesday afternoon with Joe Saunders (7-1) squaring off against Feliz Hernandez (10-6). Big series for both clubs.

The series could go a long way towards determining who will win the West if one team or the other manages a sweep. However I am sure Mike Scioscia would be content to get out of town with a pair of wins as would Seattle manager Johm McLaren would be happy to win two out of three before his squad embarks on a crucial 10 game road trip that includes a make up game in Cleveland next thursday - then consecutive three game series at Toronto, New York and Detroit. No Picnic...

The Angels return to Anaheim for a 10 game homestand including a 3 game set with Texas, then three vs Oakland and four at home against the contending Cleveland Indians.

Bottom line this next two weeks will for all intents and purposes decide who will win the West with a small advantage going to the Angels who own the best home record in baseball at 44-20. The M's are are a very respectable 32-30 on the road this year so far.

Assuming Tex holds on tonight, the Angels I am sure would be content to take 1 out of 3 and leave with a 1 game lead. Home games are coming Anaheim's way down the stretch

Ana has a major advantage down the stretch, Seattle needs 2/3 here...all those games Seattle has to make up...

Seattle should have won tonight, losing to that stud Vincente Padilla , inexcusable.

Yeah, awful showing by Batista, and the beat goes on with Lackey owning us. If we don't win 2 of 3 here, I don't think we have a real shot at catching them with our brutal road schedule coming up and their cupcake home games. Wildcard it is I think.

helluva a time for the bats to go cold..Lackey's been struggling lately and the M's have had a decent history vs them.

Must win for M's tomorrow. Angels got the 1 they need. If Angels win tomorrow, it's gravy.

Lackey a rare complete game shutout!

5 times the leadoff man reached in this game and didn't score.

Frustrating as hell to watch games like that.

One of the few times I'm glad I didn't have MLB extra innings.

Boston fans are pulling for Seattle, and not because we would rather face them.

yeah you try watching that and Toronto Oakland at the same time and you may switch to Family Feud reruns on the game show network.

:WTF:

They invent ways not to score...the Blue Jays are an attrocious team away from home.

Bigger series going on down at Petco between the 2 best teams in the NAtional Leauge. I like the Pads +1.5 -120 for Tuesday. Pads play well in big games.

Niether club one of the top 2 teams in the NL, let alone as good as the Mariners and Angels. Just another boring ass series at that park.

Do like the play though. Taking the run and a half a good idea in what is sure to be yet another snoozer.

The more I think about it I see San Diego in the World Series representing the NL. San Diego vs. Anaheim. Yessir.
